If the R-1 rule is broken, what happens to N+1?

Take your kids over to the track and get them pedalling the whole way around on their own bikes.
There's a race category called junior road bikes that they can race in on their own bikes. I started my oldest daughter over there this last season. There are some junior track bikes hovering around the club amongst members but it depends on the size of your kids and availability of bikes. My girl doesn't have the legs just yet. The club purchased some junior bikes last year after a bit of an influx of new kids, so if you can get onto one of those there's no outlay initially for a bike at least.
If you speak to Graeme whose phone no. is on the club site he will fill you in.

Hey cheers for that, I take it you are talking about the Goulburn track. I didnt realise they had a few junior bikes you might be able to use. I took the kids to watch a 2 day event there once, they were interested. I was probably more interested. But will need to off load their road bikes first anyway.

+1... the Nerang velodrome is barely a velodrome the banks are pretty lame and its concrete not floor boards and outdoors not indoors... If QLD get an indoor track I'll be the first in the door! it will cost me a track bike but it would be worth it! looks like such a rush.Pax wrote:Jealous Qlder

That's the whole damn problem with this sport. You can't just sit on the sidelines for too long. There's a few kid/parents combinations in the club. Yes it is Goulburn. After quite a bit of egging on, this sport has bitten me in the rear and I now have my own trackie. It's also a good thing for the kids to have the parent there and someone to cheer on. My little 18 mth old is hilarious now. Every time she sees bike racing on the telly she cheers out "go daddy".dazza1 wrote:

I would just wait till the racing starts, and get them riding around the track every now and again in the meantime. One of the biggest problems with the kids is apparently getting into it too much and losing interest early on. It was hard to keep my girl restricted to only a couple of rides through the week. Once she started she wanted to be riding every day.

Long shot, but anyone know of anything like this going on in Melbourne?
All I've been able to think about lately is riding track, but don't know the first thing about it. A 'try track' day would be perfect
In the meantime, gotta get my research on

Cyclesport Victoria put one one of these every few months. The last one was a month or two ago. Alternately, Brunswick Cycling Club hold a 'Development Session' at DISC most Sunday mornings from 8am which is first-timer friendly. Think it's $10 for non-BCC members which I'm fairly sure includes the use of a club bike.aroes wrote:Long shot, but anyone know of anything like this going on in Melbourne?
