Tour de Suisse

Postby Chuck » Mon May 31, 2010 8:11 am

This is also going to be shown on One HD. I'm not going to make any "Live" claims this time

Between SBS and One we're getting a pretty decent crack on free to air :D

Not sure Michael, it has been on their adds for what's coming up in June. I made a feeble attempt to garner more info on One's site, but after about 3" of half ar$#d navigation I clicked off. Will post more info if I hear/see it.

Hi

They have a sports e-newsletter so hopefully that will have more details when it comes out. I see they are also covering the World Championships (that might be on Ten but).

Andrew

Thank you, finally someone else who likes Dave Harmon & Sean Kelly over the Phil and Paul Lance love & cliche-a-thon. Really if you want to listen to those guys all you need is a recording with a few sayings on it like 'he's cracked' or 'Big George Hincapie' or 'He's dancing on the pedals' or 'The heads of state are coming to the fore' and then just play that back and interject some random piece of info about Lance every 30sec. I will admit though that they do cater for the casual viewer very well explaining everything so they can understand almost to the point of nauseation for someone who actually follows cycling. But if you want to listen to decent commentary by people in the know that commentate on more than 2 or 3 events a year than someone like Harmon & Kelly are very good even if Sean is quite monotone. If you speak dutch then i highly recommend the Sporza commentators, they really know their stuff.

Regarding OneHD covering the Tour de Suisse, they will probably just get the same feed they got for Romandie. The commentators are Rob Hatch and Johnathon Harris-Bass. I'm not sure if they are free lance commentators or actually commentate for a station and we just get their feed (sort of like how Phil and Paul commentate for multiple stations at once) but they are quite knowledgeable but could do with putting some excitement into their commentary. It is good though that there is finally a bit of competition for showing cycling now

Yep. Have set it so it records anything "cycling" related. Means it gets the MTB and BMX stuff  , but also Track as well. :D

What a mess. Boonen ended up riding straight over the top of Cav. Haussler's out :( and afaik no comment from Cav. Which is a shame, as he's usually good for that.

More crashes again :( At least HH got a stage win.

The riding has been interesting, but held my breath in the 1st stage when Brutt almost went into the house on one of the descents !!!!

Looks like some nice riding around there !!!

No mention of knee, but apparently a deep wound to his elbow requiring stitches and a few days rest.

Here's hoping. Was challenging for the stage win when Cavendish and hime went for the same spot of road. Cavendish penalised (30 sec) for irregular sprinting.

Be nice to hear how that AG2R rider pulled up after flipping over Cav, he hit the ground hard enough to smash one of the wheels off the bike!

Its times like this that being a hill climber would seem a great idea

Nothing broken, but he needed some stitches in his elbow & some road rash. Boonen banged up his injured knee again, but hasn't pulled out. No word on the AG2R La Mondial riders, and the Caisse D'Epargne rider, Arnaut something or other, suspected broken hip.

First thread I look at this morning...can't wait for the carbon wheels threads popping up everywhere else. But in this instance the speed with which that wheel collapsed is insane!.
Crazy crash...luckily no one too badly hurt (that we know of yet).

There was a twitter post saying that his team lost the first world cup match the other night... guess he's on our side now

Nasty nasty crash! caavendouche does it again - You'd never pick him as the worlds best road sprinter with amateur riding like that! Shame Boonen hit the skids and softened the blow.

Cav should give himself a good upper cut for that effort!
I have to ride early in the morning, before my brain figures out what I'm doing...
