Ausbike Expo - Saturday 21st August - 10am - 5pm

Postby Missy24 » Thu Jul 01, 2010 8:36 pm

Alright whose coming?

We have people coming from a few other places and I though this may be a good opportunity to meet some other BNAers.

Thoughts...

We could meet in town and train it out

We could rock up and just randomly text me and run around like mad nutters yelling out people's names...

We could meet up at an arranged time at the expo... I'm sure there will be coffee

What do you want to do?

Sounds like a plan - i will cycle from Mount Waverley. Hopefully i will catch up with you on the Tooradin ride next week, beach road is a bit out of the way for me , i was thinking of princes highway but i guess i could drop down warrigal and then meet up, just add another 15km to the route :)

Why does all the good stuff happen when I'm working?
I might try to get the arvo shift in a couple hours early...

I will be doing my best to get there BUT I can see no alternative to either driving or catching a train in.

Mainly because of some concerns as to where to leave the bike safely, so it won’t get pinched or stripped.

I've got a secure cage at my workplace (AT) Spencer St Station you could use Tom, a quick PT from there, goes for anyone in need on the day.

I think they have parking area there as there are cheaper tickets if you ride in http://www.ausbike.com.au/content/ausbi ... adult-bike

I supsect there will be alot of bikes and the area will be supervised.

I am just going to bring a good couple of locks but I suspect there will be alot better bikes there than mine to attract the eye of miscreants.

Has another thread been started on this topic?

If not, who's going this Saturday Public Day?

I might see you there.....

Let's hope the caf is well stocked with ice-creams! 8)

Great stuff there yesterday. Was there for most of the day - didn't recognise any BNA'ers

One of my fave specced bikes (on a crappy frame) was the SexyBicycles belt-driven, Alfine 8 speed, disc-braked, drop-barred, Versa-8 -levered (yes - 'STI' levers for Alfine 8 ) bike. Not on their website yet, but priced very well for those components

Schwinn and a few other brands had some nice commuting / touring style road bikes

I got pretty bored (as did my seven year old) with bling carbon road bikes and boing-boing mtb's, but plenty of test rides (inc. Gazelle Cabby), extreme unicycling demos, bicycle speedway try-outs, stickers, catalogues, frisbies and freebies etc. kept us going..... 8)

That sexy bicycles stand had some pretty wild and attractive colour jobs on their bikes. All I noticed was the row of flip-flop equipped single speeds, didn't notice the 8 sp bike :(

St Kilda Cycles' fully equipped tourer with belt-drive Rohloff hub, disc brakes, Scmidt dynohub with Edelux headlight and Tubus racks front and rear was a highlight for me. Drool!! This is my 'Ultimate Tourer' and it can be built up for a paltry $4500 approx.

First time I've gone to a bike show and seen not one, but three Dursley-Pedersen replicas on display. There were also a plethora of classic roadster bikes form Gazzelle, Schwinn, Classic Bicycles and others. Classic Bicycles' Leopard was really cool 8)

The one on display was black - looked much better
