Now back to cyclo. Still thinking about building up a dirt road bike, not a bog snorkeler, using my CAAD 7 frame:

Do I need V brakes and therefore a new front fork with pins, or do those froggleg brakes do the trick?

Would a 'dale carbon road fork cope with dirt roads?

Campy or Shimano running gear?

Road or MTB saddle?

Anything else I need to know?

the race is on sunday.

it is currently raining.

the last two nights i've been churning up the course by doing burnouts all over it in sean the man's grandma's car.

folks, there's going to be mud.

And a bit of snow I hope. Any off camber hills and steps? Beer tents, raucous drunk fans punching contestants? If only we had CX here 30-40 years ago .... good luck with it, I hope it catches on. :D

Good to hear. Incidentally found a natural venue for CX this morning on my pootle... Fairview Park in Hawthorn. Unfortunately for it to happen would need the wealthy burghers surrounding it to all have lobotomies!

Come to the country - Shepparton City Council loves bike events.

They are currently creating a rail trail between where I live and where I work. :D 20km of hot mix and no vehicle danger. Have to watch for 'roos though.

so, if i were crazy about CX, this is what i'd do this weekend:

friday night - go to the bicycle black market at commuter cycles and watch sick CX movies.
saturday - go for an easy CX ride on the yarra trails with nik cee
sunday - roll up to darebin parklands around 12!

hell yeah!
