Floyd at the Cascade Cycle Classic
Postby MichaelB » Fri Jul 23, 2010 12:03 pm
Exerpt from CyclingNews prologue coverage ;
Crowds lined the streets in the Old Mill District to catch a glimpse of Floyd Landis. Race organizers added the controversial cyclist, who is racing without a team, to the registration one day prior to the event’s start date.
He was the brunt of laughter during the short time trial for wearing a novice looking outfit. Rather than wear a blank racing skin suit, he chose to sport a grey baggy T-shirt and nondescript black cycling shorts with his numbers sloppily pinned on the back, loose enough to catch wind and create a small sail.
Pure class
Finished 15.6 sec down in the Prologue at 91st position (3.2km), finished 80th (down another 9:04) for stage 1, and then finished 45th (down another 2:59) for the 25.7km ITT. He's now listed as riding for OUCH and overall he's in 78th position.
Outstanding effort.

if you throw a Floyd off a 2000ft cliff and he lands head first, his head explodes

floyd has triggered a federal investigation into lance. his tactics, while motivated by bitterness, have been remarkably effective.

Due to the typically high chemical content and toxicity of Floyd's, weeds dont grow on them

Fundamentally he has serious ethical and moral problems.jules21 wrote:you know, floyd is probably telling the truth. i suspect lance has a lot more to worry about than floyd right now.

I'd agree. He has Bontrager wheels, Cannondale frame, and Specialised shoe covers.sogood wrote:Fundamentally he has serious ethical and moral problems.jules21 wrote:you know, floyd is probably telling the truth. i suspect lance has a lot more to worry about than floyd right now.

Also, Greg LeMond is always spouting off about Armstrong being a cheat, yet how could his 21 year old mark of 54kph for a tt be nigh untouchable to a machine like Cancellara with far superior technology? I'd be just as sus on him as Lance
End rant.

Nightline: You realize you have serious credibility issues?
Landis: I think that'd be an understatement.

The time difference is a dead giveaway, better faster technology yet slower speeds. What get me fired up is the way Landis is doing all this. Since he lied so much (even writing a book about it) and swindling a fortune out of the public, he should just bugger off and leave the cycling world in peace. We all know Marco Pantani was taking huge amounts of drugs but never cared or let it distract us from his amazing talent. We know Lance was doped to, but for all that he has done for cycling and cancer, I don't care!

Maybe they all were juiced up some still are thay get caught sometimes! This still doesn't make it right. Landis has lied and admited it, Lance and any of the others who may or may not have doped are doing just the same cept they are not admiting it. I think the real issue is the time given for a doping offence should be a life ban for cheating like that. Itmakes me angry to see people who if not caught were happy to dope back racing. A life ban would make people think twice and really clean up the greatest sport in the world.

of course he does, but he seems genuinely confused about how lance can be so revered, while he is a pariah - when they were both juiced to the eyeballs. at least, if he's telling the truth this time.sogood wrote:Fundamentally he has serious ethical and moral problems.

Methinks having to repay all winnings and have the proceeds of any media offerings like books and interviews confiscated would help too.Marty Moose wrote:A life ban would make people think twice and really clean up the greatest sport in the world.

People would be more likely to believe whatever Flandis says these days if he'd put his hand up at the time
Still no smokin' gun.
