Re: Macarthur Collegians ITT - 17th July
I didn't drive well up the hills last year but had good flat road speed. This year I'll be 5kg lighter so that should help the hills, as long as it hasn't stuffed power I've got stuff on ebay
Re: Macarthur Collegians ITT - 17th July
What sort of effect does the hill have? Are we talking 5km/hr difference or more? I couldn't quite grasp from the profile - it looks as though it climbs steady for 1% over 4kms, then is roughly flat for 9km then head back down for the last 4. is that close to whats out there? ![]() n=8 (2011 road, 2004 road, 2010 track, 2009 foldup, 1990 hybrid, 1992 indoor trainer, 2007 road now a rental, 1970's step through)
Re: Macarthur Collegians ITT - 17th July
About half way down - 17th July 2010 http://bicycles.net.au/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=2250&start=675 I didn't log my bottom speed on the hill, think it was something silly slow like 16kph. Average was a measly 36.1kph I've got stuff on ebay
Re: Macarthur Collegians ITT - 17th JulyFinally got round to finding my stats from last years ride.
Here. Looking towards hitting the turnaround in sub 16:00 minutes, getting a better time out of the turnaround and up the small hill, and finally a faster speed up the bigger hill. My goal is to break 29:30 this year, which will be a 45 second reduction on last years time, sub 29:00 would be nicer. Kev.
Re: Macarthur Collegians ITT - 17th July
Isn't the first half quicker than than the second half? I've got stuff on ebay
Re: Macarthur Collegians ITT - 17th JulyThats a bit more up and down than i first thought. The rises do knock off at least 5km/hr off speed. Makes it pretty interesting!

Re: Macarthur Collegians ITT - 17th JulyNope.
Turned the corner in something like 16:30 last year, and finished with 30:13. I think there was a pretty good tailwind for the return leg. Yep, more up and down than a lot of people realise.....until they ride it at pace. Kev.
Re: Macarthur Collegians ITT - 17th JulyHi Kev, noobie question, would you use TT bars on this type of course, the stick on ones? I haven't done a TT before.
Do they sell day licences as I haven't renewed mine and will probably target a half year licence this year?
Re: Macarthur Collegians ITT - 17th JulyI ran clip-on's and changed my 120 stem for an 80, which I already owned as it came with the bike. Otherwise it was my bog standard race bike.
Hadn't thought of the wind Kev, I just remember blowing up on the hill on the return leg. Kev, can you change the thread title to this years date I've got stuff on ebay
Re: Macarthur Collegians ITT - 25th Julyft,
As Mike has stated, clip-ons are fine so long as they still conform to UCI regulations. As Mike has also stated, some minor changes to bike set-up would be desirable, but certainly not necessary. The more aero position is advantagous when the wind is up, and on the downhill sections of the course. We do have day licenses available on the day at $15. Be sure to arrive early though so this can be sorted out prior to the mad rush fro signing on. Title changed as suggested. Kev.
Re: Macarthur Collegians ITT - 18th June, 2011**bump**
Date has changed, and I forgot to update this thread. Sorry. ITT is now being run on June18th, 2011. Regards, Kev.
Re: Macarthur Collegians ITT - 18th June, 2011That's the day before the NSW TTT championships, sorry I'm not coming.

Re: Macarthur Collegians ITT - 18th June, 2011Ah, c'mon Mike. It's only 17km of torture.
A lot of others have dropped out also. Bad planning on our part. Kev.
Re: Macarthur Collegians ITT - 18th June, 2011Sorry, I'm the #1 rider in my team and looking at the competition, my performance is going to be pivotal to our results.
Same, I was keen to do it. I've got stuff on ebay
