11 tooth track sprocket/lockring?

Postby Mikka » Mon Aug 02, 2010 7:11 am

Before you split your pants laughing ..... If you need to ask "Why?" ... you wouldn't understand.

All I want to know is "Are they available from somewhere on Earth?" Can anyone point me towards one? ... or do I need to draw one up and make it?

I'm not in a hurry. Just starting a journey. Any help appreciated.

It's not possible to get 11t on a standard screw on thread, as the diameter of the thread is too big. I think 13t is the smallest you can go

I would hate to think what forces would be acting on an 11t fixed sprocket. Are you building a fixed bike? You could make a dodgy 11t single speed by using an 11t cassette sprocket and spacing it onto a road hub.

Not wanting to state the obvious, if you need the higher gearing on a fixed gear just put a bigger chainring on. Here's some inspiration...

Has been covered, but with one-8th pitch, you cannot get 11-teeth around
the normal diameter, of the track hub. Sorry.

If you use half-inch-pitch you can have 6T

I've seen photos of a mountain bike where the chain travels inside the swing arm. Wonder what sprockets would be used in such a situation?

I think you mean 1 inch pitch. 1/2" is normal pitch (eg 1/2" * 3/32" was standard road chain before they became narrow, 1/2" * 1/8" is standard track chain)

i think the bikes with the drivetrain in the chainstay use a driveshaft and ring gear type of arrangement?

this is massively off topic now

Thanks, correct, had inch, then threw in the half.(so long ago for me, now, still have the cogs)
Was there when Shimano, tried to bring in the 10mm for the Track.
