Painting/Powder Coating a Fixie ProjectHi guys,
I'm pretty new to this forum, but I have been cycling for a while and decided on building a fixie a few months back to try and help work on a few things with my technique and maybe get into some track riding. I have been looking through the thread 'post your fixie pics' and there is some fantastic looking whips on there with some great looking paint work, but not may people have commented on where they've been getting them done and all my key word searches have been pretty fruitless. My question is, can someone recommend a good painter or powder coater around Melbourne. I have a totally bare frame that is almost ready to go. I am trying to do things relatively cheap, but I don't mind spending a little bit to get a good job done. Let me know. -Josh-

Re: Painting/Powder Coating a Fixie ProjectIve just resprayed my roadie in white enamal from the can. I intend to flat it back a littke and clearcoat it with something toxic but perdy. All up it may be $200 finished? Worth thinking about. Ill post picks tonight
Re: Painting/Powder Coating a Fixie Project
Thanks Womble. I had considered doing it myself, but it needs to be sandblasted and maybe some surface finish work done. So I figured taking it to a one stop shop to be sandblasted and powder coated would do the job. That and the fat that last time I tried my hand at painting it didn't surn out so well. I'll be keen to see some pictures of your DIY job though. -Josh-

First of all, what do you want, a good job, or a powdercoat ?? For me those are two different things. I can not help you with powdercoat, i'm sure others can, but if you are intereted in a good paint job , i can help. I wil send you a pm. Thanks.
Your bike looks nice, but for $200 i could have done it for you... Altough it takes away the satisfaction of doing it yourself. The dutch have one word to describe the aussie MHL, this word is ;

Re: Painting/Powder Coating a Fixie Project
New thing, called courier delivery, you may or may not have heard of it.
Re: Painting/Powder Coating a Fixie Project
You just beat me to it... I was thinking the same thing... Only downside would be that the delivery costs would add to the total costs... The dutch have one word to describe the aussie MHL, this word is ;

Re: Painting/Powder Coating a Fixie ProjectUnfortunately some of us need to do things for our wives before we do things for our bikes. Spending money on bikes is a touchy subject this week

Re: Painting/Powder Coating a Fixie Project
I have not been there, but the word of mouth is good... and I have seen some of the work, very nice.
Re: Painting/Powder Coating a Fixie ProjectThanks everyone for your comments and suggestions. I am pretty sure I know where I'll be taking the frame now. I'll be sure to post up pictures as the project progresses.
