It is amazing, they are just going to ride through Geelong suburbia; past peoples houses. It is a nice looking route - scenery-wise.
I do hope they replace the bridge of death as they have promised to.
What is it 8 times up those hills, I am not sure it is a sprinters race - unless it is Milan San-Remo esque?
I reckon it will be exciting, esp the decent. I hope the coverage does it justice.

Looking at the course, you could just pitch a tent somewhere on the side of the road - or look up those relo's in Geelong you have been trying to keep secret.MichaelB wrote:Some mates and I are still debating whether to hitch up the caravan and head over and watch (and do some riding as well).

It is a down hill finish I think which probably isn't Cadel's bag. But if Oscar's nose is better and he does some training, well, a fourth set of stripes, is it possible? They'd have to call him a zebra. But after Ali Jet, anything is possible for the OAP's.

Nope, uphill.ft_critical wrote: It is a down hill finish I think
edit: 2nd vid gives a good impression of the finish. Kicks up at the last corner for about 100m, flattens out (false flat) until about the last 200 when it kicks up again. It's certainly no mountain, but there will be no free rides either.
Cant wait for this. Course is not as flat as many would have you believe, the climb through challambra crescent won't be popular with the pure sprinters, and the climb from the queens park bridge isnt overly long at all, but they will feel it when they are heading up it for the 7th/8th time. I used to ride up it on my MTB back in the day, last time I went through there I walked it
I'm just looking forward to being able to stroll the 1km from my driveway to the course

edit: link not working properly, type in 2 challambra crescent highton as the address (it should auto populate)

That is awesome. I hope you have noted where the bar has been set for posting photos of the race in 'your backyard' for those of us who won't make itim_no_pro wrote:I'm just looking forward to being able to stroll the 1km from my driveway to the course

My tip is Fab. He was devastated to miss out last year, I think he felt he was the strongest guy in the race. He'll be very focused on this race and we've seen at Flanders and Roubaix what he can do when he focuses on something.
Would love to see Cadel successfully defend though

Oh yeah, I'd be on my bike dawn til dusk just hoping, camera in jersey pocketft_critical wrote:So if I was im_no_pro this is what I would do. I would take the week off before the Worlds and every day do some lazy laps around the course in the morning and afternoon. You would be sure to have the chance to shadow or even ride with the pros as they recon the course

It's not going to be as much fun as you think... first you'll have to walk across your front lawn, which will be full of forumites and their bikes and tents!im_no_pro wrote:ft_critical wrote:

Don't worry, we'll leave some cash on your fridge.
