I was looking to get a new bike
preferably a single speed with the new carbon belt ( I like the thought of zero maintenance )
just to roll around on during the week I did see a trek on the weekend with one at a sydney city bike shop but the rrp was 6K
has anybody bought One ?
and I was just curious how quickly one can change a rear flat tire
or do I need to carry a spanner

Cervelo S2 for the short road
GT Carbon Pro for the mountain
Kono Kula deluxe / slicks for the foot paths
Cannondale dually for the big stuff

I reviewed the Spot Rocker 29er SS a few weeks ago. The review will be up on this site shortly. It is a belt drive mountain bike.
Well worth a look if singlespeed is your thing, and much more reasonably priced than $6K.

Have one. Despite my initial problems I'd never go back to a SS/FG with a chain.
Here's a list of some manu's, still a hefty premium for anything with a belt on it...

Rear wheel change is usually easy, or easier - it is just the belt that can't be removed without braking the frame. There are however different systems so you have to look at each one, though this shouldn't be the biggest concern.
6K seems over the top - I rode a belt drive SS this year, while not yet available in Australia, it would be at least half of this price, if not lower. (let me know if you want to know more).
Jacobite - interested to know what the initial problems were.

Check out my last created thread, tension issues and warped belt.AUbicycles wrote:Rear wheel change is usually easy, or easier - it is just the belt that can't be removed without braking the frame.
