Another one to tick off the goal list.
Although cloudy this morning was a perfect morning to go for a spin.
I made up my mind last night I was going to ride for about 3 hours today, not really pushing it hard, just cruising. The first hour came and went and I looked at the Garmin and it said 34kms. The wind was mainly a cross breeze except for a brief 5km section, which was a tailwind.
Feeling pretty good, the second hour I was able to churn out 34.5kms, which instantly made me realise all that was needed was a comfortable 31.5km 3rd hour and bam a century in 3 hours. The first 30 minutes of the third hour, I pushed hard into a headwind, so I could have the benefit of a tailwind for a while once I turned back around. That left me 15kms for the last 30 minutes which is a very comfortable pace and by the time I passed through the 100km mark, the time was 2hours 55 minutes.
After the 100kms I took it easy, letting my legs settle for a short ride home.
The legs felt great throughout the ride and even when I hopped off the bike, which was a bit of a surprise.
And here are the stats of the total ride.
Distance 111.02km
Time 3 hours 15 minutes 40 seconds
Av Speed 34.04 km/h (a high of 51.5km/h)
Av Heart rate 144bpm (with a high of 156)
Av Cadence 95rpm
Total Ascent 634m
Total Calories 4428
Another goal made. Century ride in under 3 hours.

If the R-1 rule is broken, what happens to N+1?

Thanks. Saturday is the day I feel the best for the longer rides. Hopefully before the end of the year, I'll give 200 a go, and if I can average about 30km/h I'll be happy. It was perfect until I got near Sunnyholt Rd on the M7, then down came the rain until Pennant Hills Rd on the M2.X-wing wrote:Holy cow - that is fast! It's a great day for it too!
Well done Killer!

I know what you mean. Last Monday at racing I got dropped at less than this speed which was annoying, but that's the joys of doing loads of kms on the weekends before a race. No recovery makes it a little harder.toolonglegs wrote:I've done races slower than that!.

Thanks Richard. If you find a hill that big and long, could you let me know too please?europa wrote:Where on earth did you find a hill 111km high? Surely you needed it to maintain that speed
Well done.
