First 100km

Postby pagey » Sun Sep 26, 2010 7:23 pm

It was a wonderful spring day in Melbourne today and I headed out for my usual Sunday ride. I think it was a combination of the great weather and some fresh legs but whatever it was I turned into Forest Gump.

Everything went right - weather, legs were great, nutrition spot on and I can now tick off my first solo 100km.

How good is cycling!
cheers

Good stuff.

How did you find your speed was over the course of the ride? Did you hit a wall at any point?

Good one Pagey,

LOL my first 100+ was 120 km pushed too hard and hit the wall with 35km from home. When I eventually got there I could hardly stand my eyes were completly bloodshot and the wife yelling "where the &^*&%%^& have you been" :?

Only intended to go out for 70k's but felt good.............Should always take something to eat!!!!!

I averaged 32km/h and felt pretty fresh afterward. A little tired in the legs today though.

The next challenge is the ATB 250km in a couple of weeks. Hoping to grab on to a few bunches to make it a bit easier. We should set up a forum bunch
cheers

Some clarification on my riding time. I have been racing MTB enduros for a few years and have just got into road riding over the last 9 months.

I never thought I would enjoy it this much - I've now signed up to Caufield Carnegie to do some crits and road races
cheers
