You mean, there is doubt on the gender of the winner of the women's race?Burt 'Pigeon Racer' Jones wrote:Is it just me, or does the winner of yesterdays womens race look her/his goolies haven't dropped yet?

You just had to know that when the bunch charged down the right hand side that if Thor was still in the mix, he was in the perfect spot for the sprint, and sure enough.
What an effort by Cadel though. Almost, but not quite. And Allan Davis, where did he come from...
Amazing Championships all round. Great course, great field, great finishes. Love the fact too that the radios were out, and the tactics are decided on road.

Interesting Finish, hard uphill, into the wind, sprint.
Thor HUSHOVD, showed he was the greatest sprinter on the day, won it quite comfortably,
and now the World Champion.
Aussie Allan Davis, a good third, and the Bronze medal.
(but a lesson for him, and others, never sit up until after the line, nearly lost it-officials needing a photo )
Thor spoke well, and will be a worthy Champion, and a great boost for his Country.

Of course but only if you lend it to a world champion

I think he played it very well. I felt he did initiate alot of the resposes but I other guys always went with him and I thought it was able to rotate off the front felatively soon after the initial response...there were a couple of times when I thought that he was going to chase with the other guys just following but every time I thought he was going to do too much work we was able to rotate off and the response continued...jules21 wrote:i didn't see everything as i was on the course, but the bits i saw on the screen made me wonder whether cadel worked too hard, honouring the rainbow jersey (even if he'd already taken it off). it looked as though he did most of the responding on the last lap to gilbert.
Awesome race!! Cadel did us proud. Great result for Davis and Im glad a race like that was won by Thor if it wasnt going to be an aussie.

Great rides by Evans + Davis you did us proud!
Only gripe about the event... in future if they hold such events, they need to set up radio stations/commentary around the course not just in parks, was left wondering most of the day who was where....
Quite a few pedestrian issues and support car crashes, one almost understeered off course into the barriers the start of the queens park climb, surely did surprise the spectators Skoda panel beaters better stock up on some bumper bars and rear hatches hehehe.
Anyway hopefully we can have some more events like this to come, well worth it, now where's my mountain goat gone
Oh, will the race be replayed on tv tonight/tomorrow, love to catch up on other events that happen during the course of the day?

It would appear that (thanks to the Commonwealth Games I presume) the Mens Elite Road Race is the only one of the week not to get a repeat showing.fail wrote:Oh, will the race be replayed on tv tonight/tomorrow, love to catch up on other events that happen during the course of the day?

+1 one to Skoda having some panel beating to do. Saw a few banged up rear ends and heard from some spectators one car floored it over some bumps and half the bikes on the roof fell off . They were flogging it down the straights as well, prob hitting 100km/h+ often with riders in tow.
It was a great atmosphere. Only gripe was with some ppl been very inconsiderate in the park (standing in-front of ppl sitting down trying to watch the tv) and a few bike riders who clearly were not the best bike handlers in the world yet persisted to try ride through crowds clipped in and been right tools about it! Also a major need for the Lycra police to do patrols
