Peyronies Condition (male issue) can it be cycling-related.?

Postby RetroPilot » Sun Jan 03, 2010 7:50 am

Chicks please move onto the next thread, unless you have a specialist medical degree.

I have this good friend who has noted the symptoms of something which is apparently fairly common and has a fancy name, Peyronie's Disease/Syndrome.

although never dead straight, few are, this is something that has come on mainly bending up quite a fair bit, , but also to a little to the right, during the last year or so...which coincides with the good friend doing much more cycling...it seems obvious that the potential logical links of this to a bike seat seems possibly obvious.

Anyone else woth good friends affected, who has some personal testimony and research on cycling and Peyronies?

First question: Is this a professional diagnosis? If not, I'd go and see a doctor to have it confirmed. The advice of 1 qualified medical practitioner is better than 1000 e-pinions.

Second question: If this is in fact cycling related, has your "good friend" had his bike professionally fitted? Any correctly fitted bike should not cause this sort of thing.

Has your friend had any other sudden lifestyle changes coinciding with his take up of cycling?

At a guess, I'd say anything odd around the lads for us stands a good chance of being cycling related.
Maybe your mates main lad is scared of the cutout saddle and is trying to escape?

Anyhoo, definitely one for a proper examination, lest one eventually pi55es in ones eye, not just from it.

The earlier the better.

He's clearly right handed, and needs to change hands(left), and like physio it will work it back to centre over time.

This is a job for a Doctor, not a forum...

Best of luck to your friend though!

Fortunately I had just put my Coffee down.

Back on topic, put me down as a +1 for seeking professional medical advice (if you have not done so already). Can't say I have had too many issues since I got back into riding, but maybe that just means I dont ride enough

There was a young man from Kent,
Whose tool was exceedingly bent,
To save himself trouble,
He put it in double,
Instead of coming he went!

I was going to ask a facetious question about why people ride recumbents but it must be old by now.

Wouldn't it be a rhetorical question? Go on, ask it...

The answer to the original question.....Can it be related? The answer in short is, Yes! (no pun intended) :)

Peyronie's Disease can be caused by micro injuries over time. While there is no specific known cause (or cure) to the disease (condition), it is widely accepted that any type of injury can lead to this condition. "ALL" men are at risk to acquiring this terrible condition. There are sites out there that will explain in detail what the ramifications are. And not just injuries can result in this, it is suspected that different (pharma) drugs can be responsible, while that still has not been proven. Still there are many that seem to experience Peyronie's (PD) after being on these medications. I have the condition and I have heard all the jokes, believe me! If you ever contract this condition, you will no longer think of it as a joke.

Why do I post this? Because I have made it my goal to get the word out to all men to be careful in whatever you do physically, including the obvious bedroom activities! I would give a website to visit to educate yourself, however out of respect to this forum and their policy, I will not give it unless given permission. I truly hope the original poster does not have this condition, if so, you sir have my deepest empathy. We have a saying "Welcome to the club, NO ONE wants to be a member of"!

As someone else mentioned, go to a physician educated in this condition. I have the names of a couple physicians downunder, if interested and needed. Let me know.

[moderator]If the website is a form of support function and/or provides genuine information for sufferers of the disease, then I do not see it being an issue. If you are still concerned about it, you can PM me the address and I will have a look before you link it, or you can just PM it to the OP and he can check it out for himself, and you will not have to link it at all.

Oh, and thanks for asking first, much appreciated 8)

Hello all,

I think yes it could be related, if you are causing the need for your manhood to repair i.e damaging it the same way and causing the body to build tissue in the area of damage thus causing extra tissue to be in one area of the it resulting in curvature.

I actually have had peronies disease my whole life and even though about surgury but came across a device called Androp e n i s. It uses traction to straighten the curvature. I have been using it on and off for just over 2 years now and within one my curvature was almost corrected completely, now I am using it for gaining girth more than length. Have a read if it might interest you. http://www.andropeni sgold.com.au and go to the curvature page.

Sorry about the spaces, it seems you can't even say the P word lol.

Stay safe people, and never play chicken with a car

The literature review Vicious Cycling:Bicycling Related Urogenital Disorders does not list it as one commonly associated with cycling. Consultation with a urologist would be a very sensible next step. Pick the one with the longest waiting queue - that's the wisdom of the crowd selection method.

I've only ever had two patients in nearly 20 years mention this problem to me, both whilst seeing me for other problems.
"can you do anything for a bent ...um...!!! spammer !!!?" is not a typical question i'd here.
a referral to a urologist is the correct course of action. It is not considered cycling related, although a wikiepedia entry suggests that vacuum pumps are now being used for management.

"seriously ! its not my bag baby "
