At this stage we would all be looking at $70 a pop. Im still considering the black jersey IF I get jackets made. If this happens the jackets will be in the above color. Unsure of those prices ATM

Let me work on the fine details.
I can test colour variations with side panels... and look at the sleeve.

Large area of yellow is important. Black is not consistent with this safety them. So yes, I'd buy a later revised design.

The Womble wrote:That does look great. Can black be incorporated into the sleeves with the logo like the first ones? I also think the black side panels would benefit from white borders. Oh and feel free to chuck some BNA signage on there Chris. Free for the site. Everyone else will pay through the nose :P
Sorry guys I only just noticed this post, while I think a small BNA logo on each sleeve is a great idea, if the rest of the jersey is going to be covered with advertising which IMHO will detract from the intent of the jersey in the first place, I’m out.

The advertising will in no way detract from the overall theme and message of the final design. That simply will not be allowed to happen. However the initial cost of the first order will cost several thousands and there is no other way of getting the jersey into production, so there will indeed be sponsorship incorporated into the scheme

I will have email contact with Womble to look into the sponsorship logos - Best rest assured that we will keep the primary message in the foreground and sponsors/supporter logos would be subtle.
Tom, lets wait it out.

That <1m.> looks amateurish and wrong. It should be < 1 m >.( 1 space m no period)
I wouldn't wear a dorky thing like that. Its as daggy as writing klm for km.
Either get it right or do it in crayon.

Nawh look. Another dropkick with an unneccesarily strong opinion, but no intention of getting his s*** together and doing anything at all.
Negative critisism is fine. Then theres 'individuals like you who have had nothing positive to add to any thread since joining, and whose posts mostly go un-noticed despite the shouting. Dont expect your opinions to be taken onboard, well, ever.
We wont be using crayons. The tantrums we'd have to put up with in wrestling them

Say What! That is gratuitously offensive.

Perhaps I should rephrase my criticism.
The symbol you present on the back of that jersey could be clearer. In fact at first glance (which is all a motorist is going to get of it) I did not understand what it was about.
Now you could make the assumption that I am an atypical dill but then its the dills who are driving that are the most dangerous.

You could make it clearer with a few changes. Those changes are:
1) Adopt a familiar font. "Transport" font is the font used on road signs.
2) Follow writing conventions. 1 space m
3) Make the arrow more like an arrow. Have a look at some airport signs.

Is that sufficiently anodyne for you

No.. but lets look at it this way, there was already feedback on the design and logo and each they were all much more constructive. Then someone comes in and with no thought about the efforts that other people have put in, only brings in insults and negatives.

The font used was chosen as it was designed for use on road signs and extremely good legibility - plus is a stylish a modern (looking) font that will well suit communication.

The 1m. was discussed during conception, it was decided to retain this as it is not intended as part of a mathematical formular or within a sentence.. rather is a logo that has no obligations to utilise specific formats. The period sets the 1m as a statement and provides a visual accent that balances the triangle.

Regarding the arrow - if you spend more time looking at it, maybe it will click and you will say 'a ha'.

I see this as closed.

This is a very poor justification for breaking with established convention.

True, there's a myriad of logotypes that break the grammar, spelling and usage rules. It's usually done in an effort to draw attention to something that would be otherwise not worthy. It usually comes off as daggy and amateurish.

The period doesn't add balance or "visual accent". It adds clutter. Have you looked at a version without it? Keep it simple.

Have a look at some signage and some other logotypes. Even in situations where punctuation would be appropriate on a printed page it is dropped for these applications.
I fear the semantics of "setting it as a statement" would be lost in traffic. Anybody interested enough to attempt analysis of it's purpose will likely conclude that it's simply a mistake.
Which is exactly what it is. :D

So here I am driving along the road that I paid for with my rego and another pesky cyclist appears in front of me taking up 1/4 of my lane and slowing me to half speed so I check my mirrors in order to pass and oh yes, he has a yellow jersey on with a triangle and I pass and I'm gone. Message received? Other than "cyclists are pests" I don't think so.

The "a ha" that you speak of relies on fore-knowledge. I think this is lost on you because you are familiar with the logo. If you want to achieve what you appear to be trying to achieve you should revisit that design. Forget about "logo". Think "sign".

Even if you are married to the idea of "logo" you should fix it. What RobertFrith has said so much more capably than me applies.

Hi

I am with Robert here. There is convention in symbols and the like for good reason ...

There is an important safety message here somewhere apparently ... maybe focusing on that would be smart thing to do ...

An amendment is up to Womble. I am open to the possibility to optimise and it is really only the period.
