I raced last night, I think I finished 11th or 12th, not sure. I sat at the back and observed for most of the race then with 2 laps to go I moved up so that I was in 3rd position at the start of the sprint lap. Unfortunately I got boxed in, the two guys in front of me blew up on the way up the hill then I couldn't get around them because people were passing me and there were no gaps :( I made up a few places on the way down the hill and through collarbone corner but I was too far back to contest the sprint to the line. It was good fun, I think we completed 8 laps and my heart rate hit 187 (which is about 5 bpm higher than I thought my max was!). Hopefully I'll be there next week, but I'm not sure I'll be able to leave work early enough to get there.

Nice work :). What was the average?

Anyone know how the CCC crits compare to the VCC in terms of numbers in F grade? I would assume CCC might get a few more?

Average speed was something like 37.5 kmh, I think there were about 30 people in the race. Apparently numbers were down on last week where I think someone said they had 40 something in E Grade/Apprendiz. The speed was not a problem at all, the bunch stayed together pretty much the whole time but there was a wicked headwind going up the hill which is where everyone bunched up again each lap.

There was a nasty looking crash too, in B Grade I think, fifty metres from the finish line. The patient was kept on the road for at least half an hour before an ambulance took him away with full spinal caution. Hope he's alright.

OK, it rained. so no stromlo for me today unless it stops at 4 so I got time to roll there.

Weather permitted (and finger crossed) it's tomorrow, or next Wednesday for me.

Same here. It's raining sideways here (Symonston) & doubt the track would fully dry in 90min. Don't think first time crit & wet track would go down too well. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Wusses - you haven't lived until you have done a 42 kph average lap around Stromlo in pouring rain, and spent the next two hours washing the dirt out of your mouth. :)

Yes - can be scary. But that track has phenomenal grip, even in the wet.
I ride, therefore I am. But don't ride into harm's way.

I was waiting for someone to say something along those lines :P

Thought it might be dry as I came through Woden but started raining again. Prob 50/50 chance it would dry/ish

Seeing that no more rain's coming, I think I will go out to Stromlo to just have a look. Or at least get the 3-race pass for the future.
