Donny, Looks like 100% concentration required for that type of terrain even if you are not riding in quite the same proximity (mostly?) to other riders as in roadie events.

recently visited the new tracks at hornsby. or known as old mans valley. (omv). pretty short track at the moment but has a nice mix of flowy bits with some techy stuff as well to test yourself on. the main loop is the "blue" loop which I think most people could ride it 100%, off the blue loop there is extensions marked as the "black" loop which is where the technical sections are. also a green loop at the bottom for beginners/families. was heaps of people there all having a good time. def worth checking out. a few pics below.

It certainly is a brilliant track. Probably the best in Sydney at this time, in my opinion, if maximising fun is your main criteria for choosing a ride.

Maintenance is done by volunteers. If you're looking for a cross-training core strength workout, nothing beats wielding a shovel and partaking of some trail maintenance. Also a great way to meet good riders and new riding buddies.

Yes. That's right. There is no OMV trail fairy. So we need a couple of hours of your time if you are keen to help us maintain this great trail. If you have done this before, you'd know it is a great feeling to ride a trail you personally have had a hand in carving a berm or laying down rock armouring or trimming back plant growth.

Come join us to do some modifications and maintenance to the South Side trail. There are a few sections requiring stone work to stabilise the surface and drainage improvements. It starts at 2pm and runs until 6pm but come along at anytime and see the site Co-ordinator. Any contributions of time are appreciated.

Next Trail Maintenance Day at OMV
Sat 6th April • 2pm - 6pm (weather permitting)

If you have a decent sack/furniture trolley with biggish blow up wheels then bring that along to cart rock. Bring boots (steel caps ideal) and gloves plus don't forget a hat, sunscreen and plenty of water.

Please make a note in your calendar: future maintenance days will be the first weekend of the month (weather permitting)

Come and introduce yourself to Campbell, Noel, Craig, Winco, Adrian, Adam, Bill and Alex.

Here's a vid done by a fellow nobmobber that showcases the trail nicely

Beware, he has a habit of putting catchy tunes in that get stuck in your head with his vids

cool vid, shows all the good stuff out there. I parked at dural and rode the quarry track first then hornsby from there. Was a good way to do it and added in some nice climbing along the quarry track (plus its easier for me to get to dural then hornsby)

Relatively short, but easily up there with the best views in the mountains, and lots of waterbars too  Great for a beginner or for a quick ride. Or combine it with another ride in the upper mountains like narrowneck

bit of a gravedigger on the thread here
Have been playing with my camera lately, still a massive newb but getting there. Got a chestmount strap in the last couple of weeks so tried it out yesterday on the oaks single track section, not bad, just need to adjust the angle a bit and change the FOV to the wider option i think.

Didn't hear you breath until 8 minutes in

Nice vid, mate - you're right about the angle though, my neck is sore trying to see further up the track

What are you doing Sunday? A mate and I and maybe some hangers on are doing an Oaks up-and-back Sunday morning. Local word is trail conditions are good despite the rain we've been having on the coast.

Now... should I take the GoPro?

PM me if interested.

7:30am from the train station car park.

Local reports say no rain today and windy (cold) conditions. A few puddles but otherwise ... hero dirt. 8)
