Kurnell Tri-Shave series

Postby hannos » Mon Nov 29, 2010 12:41 pm

Race 1 for the series was yesterday.

Managed 1hr 15m 22s. Did the swim in a wetsuit this time and that makes such a huge difference!
Swim = 00:16:20
Cycle = 00:37:32
Run = 00:21:28

Race 2 january 16:
1hr 16m 43s
Swim = 00:16:19
Cycle = 00:36:48
Run = 00:23:37

The very first race I did was january 17 this year:
Total time = 01:25:31

Swim = 00:24:45
Cycle = 00:36:42
Run = 00:24:03

Good stuff, hoping to get out there for the Jan/Feb ones.

Did getting of the wetty slow you down much in T1? Been wondering if its worth wearing a wetsuit for Sprints.

I swim like a brick. having a wetty (triathlon specific wetty) makes a huge difference with your bouyancy! My swimming skill is probably the same as it was in the first race and I dropped 10 minutes.

and it was only 18 degrees in the water...

Hannos,

Are the transitions included in the times below? If not I note you dropped a bit of time on the bike and picked it up on the run was this a concise decision?

Yeah that's including transitions. They time you from when you cross the 'line' between swim and ride, and again from ride to run. There isn't a pure bike time :(

It would be good to know how long I spent in actual transition and to know what the real time for the swim/ride/run was.

I dropped time on the bike as there was no wind whatsoever in January and yesterday had a bit of a headwin on the return leg of the ride.
As for the run, well I've actually been running lately :mrgreen:

In January I didn't train properly, i concentrated on swimming as 7 weeks before the race I couldnt swim 50m :) I had nothing at all left in the tank come time for the run.

I think I should actually do some training for these events...

Hey, I did my first Kurnell yesterday. Finished in 1.15 which was bang on target (before I realised it was a short swim.)

Geez they are good fun, will be trying to make the remaining rounds. Oh and I do train so hate to see what you will do if you get those swim times down. I also lost a heap of time bumbling around in transition. No sox and stretchy shoe laces for next round. Oh and a wetsuit.

See you there.
