Re: What are those ...Copped a mouthful of them on my ride this morning. Ended up having to wipe my tongue with my jersey sleeve. Yuk.

Well I wish she'd keep them locked up. I can't stand peoples who let their pets roam ...whatever the road rules, self-preservation is the absolute priority for a cyclist when mixing it with motorised traffic.

They love lights too. Amateur oenologist and green-friendly commuter.
Re: What are those ...
I don't think so. Midges are a bit like tiny mozzies. These are more like fruit flies - soft and slow and gormless and utterly devoid of defences except for their willingness to suicide in your eyes and mouth and lungs. Who would think that such an innocuous creature could be such pain in the bum. I was just reading about caffeine. It turns out that not only is it the normal exudate of cyclists but it is a natural insecticide. Maybe its just cyclists that are the unwitting bane of these creatures. We blunder into these clouds of innocent fun loving flying creatures and send them to their deaths but do we sympathise with them? No. We curse them like psychopaths. Well I only have so much empathy to share around and I don't have any for these scum. More caffeine. Tons of it. And pyrethrums. And flame throwers. What ever it takes. judged, insulted, gone
