Need help choosing tubular tyres

I ride on an indoor, wooden track.
I have no idea what I should be looking for.

Should I just go with Conti Sprinters for about 50 bucks each, or go up to Dugast cottons for about 87 bucks each? Or should I go in between?

And rim cement, should I get Conti tub cement which is 'specialised' for carbon rims?

I've also just snagged a set of Campy Record Cranks for it as well.

taped a rim, put the tyre on (backing still on) and I noticed that this particular Sonderklasse has a horrendous bump around the valve hole. I thought these were a 70-80 dollar tyre not a 20 dollar duct-tape jobby

I never saw one that didn't have a bit of a lumpy bumpy thing around the valve stem Chad!

Is there a chance it'll roll off around this area?
Because of the bulge it's not completely in contact with the tape.
Speaking of tape, I'll probably glue my front tyre just to spice things up.

Hey Chad, the amount of bulge was from the start and finish of all the stitching, around the valve base and my rims had a little bit of a countersunk area. Where the valve went through and was never a problem as far as rolling off went.

I have to be honest and say, I haven't seen what the rims of today are like as far as the countersunk area of the valve goes.

Did you put the tub on prior to gluing to see if there was a bump at the valve area when pumped up, while spinning the wheel?

Yeah I did see a bump before hand, the area either side of the valve doesn't make good contact with the rim.
I think what I'll do is tear off the tyre, and maybe put clamps or something either side of the tyre to make the area's either side of the tyre come in contact with the rim.

You would need to be real careful doing that, because you could rupture the tube.

Don't suppose you could throw up a pic, so that I can see it?

Does your valve stem have a thread so that you can screw it down?

I eventually tore the tyre off. In hindsight the tape was most probably adequate. I bought Conti cement and that damn stuff goes tacky in about 3 seconds flat.
I put a thin, even layer on the rear wheel (completely messed up the front) and barely had enough for the tyre. It's sitting at the moment, probably mount it up in half an hour.

i highly doubt you would roll a tyre at the valve, because the valve would be holding the tyre on the rim better than glue would when lateral forces come into play

You will probley find the valve hole is a little on the small side,
Just remove the tubular and increase the dia of the hole to aprox 12mm in the rim.
Should be no lump under the tubular then. I had the same issue on my tubs and this fixed the problem.
