Had a bit of spare time yesterday so decided to take the chain off and give everything a good clean up. Re joined the chain and thought to myself 'this pins going in easy.' It then clicked its a shimano hyper glide chain, am I right in saying I'm meant to rejoin it with a new pin or am I thinking of something else?

Need a new pin. The pins get damaged when you push them through so you can't re-use them safely.

Get a SRAM Powerlink and stick in your drive line.

For the wipperman link make sure you put it the right way around, otherwise the link will skip on 11 tooth cogs due to lack of clearance inside the 11 tooth cog.

IMPORTANT: 10SP Links are POWERLOCK, they fit together but then are not designed to come apart again.

Hmm not much use, is it the same with the wipperman? It says avaliable for 8-9 speed chains but they do a 10 speed one?

I have a 10SPeed wipperman Connex...just the same as a 9 speed...easy on...easy off...shiny and clean

true..one thing i rarely break is a chain....too smooth :lol:

I see that Wipperman have stainless steel chains now.
From a wear point of view, would these have an adverse affect on the chainwheel or cassette?
