We purchased a couple of Trek Mountain Bikes and have been riding for around 2 mths. and have done approx 900k's. But I just can't seem to find a club that caters for those of us that have mountain bikes, the minute you mention mountain bikes with knobbly's they don't want to know. We are too young for the over 55's and CFP didn't really want to know. We average 20kph and ride to enjoy it, if we want to go any faster we take the car Any info would be appreciated Graeme
Hi Over 55's maybe? (Check that age, they maybe okay with younger riders). There is also the Cycling 4 Pleasure group. Both are mentioned in the opening post. Regards Andrew

As I said in my post, over 55's we are too young, I sent them an email asking it they allowed people that are not quite 55 but received no reply, so I assumed they get asked that all the time and couldn't be bothered replying. Cycling for pleasure, when I spoke to someone about joining it was made pretty clear that MTB were not go, flat bar road bikes were the norm.
It's amazing that this is the case, while there are a lot of riders who have road bikes, there are just as many who have MTB young and old. I am thinking of putting thinner tires on the bikes but I don't want to have to buy new bikes just to be accepted into a club.

Fit road 26" road slicks and just turn up and join in I reckon - the worst that can happen is that you get dropped on a hill. For People North of the freeway, Joondalup - Jindalee ...Peloton Charity Shield http://pelotoncharityshield.blogspot.com/Its for people who want to ride with friendly people and be part of a group, sorry no racers here. Its not a registered club as yet. Recently started to attend the cyclosportif events.
On the Peleton ride there is a bloke named Brad riding a Mtb with skinny slicks....if you were to turn up he would have an equal companion. Brad hoots along on his machine so be prepared !. Eric.
Newer does not automatically mean betterer.

Not an official club but we ride from the Arena Joondalup every Saturday morning at 6am - from the main entrance and finish up at a local coffee shop. A, B & C grade rides varying from 50km to 70km. C grade averages about 31kph and is more forgiving for new riders (ie: you don't get left behind). All rides are associated with Joondalup City Cycles.

Westcycle is the new government appointed umbrella body for cycling in Western Australia. Its fairly new, and has only just appointed a CEO. The website will be up and running during Bikeweek (we hope). Send me a message if you want to be put in touch with Clinton. I'm the Chairman of the board. Nice list!

This ride still on? Might come down if so.
