Advice on buying a new bike

Hey all,

I'm pretty set on buying a new bike sometime this week, I've done a fair bit of research and checked out a couple stores this weekend and I've narrowed my choices to the Apollo Transfer 2.0 and the Giant Seek 2.

I'm mainly getting this bike to ride to/from work (Newtown-North Sydney). I'm not 100% comfortable riding on the road all the way there but probably a good 70% portion so I figured a hybrid or commuter bike would be the way to go.

Has anyone heard anything negative about those 2 bikes... or are they a ripoff or anything (Apollo is about $799 and the Giant Seek 2 is $949). They both seem like pretty sweet deals to me and I guess it will just come down to whatever I can find that is available.
