TDU BNA Ride

Postby RobRollin » Sun Jan 09, 2011 6:52 pm

Coming accross to SA for the TDU I thought it would be great have a BNA ride on the Sunday 23rd Jan meet some fellow BNA'ers. Starting in the city, early so we can have a ride, coffee and set up for the final stage.

Who's keen? :D

Yeah Rob I head back to Perth that afternoon otherwise would've been up for it. However I'm intending to do the ride route from Norwood to Mt Barker on Monday morning 17th as a bit of a recon if anyone's interested. I'm staying with a mate in Mt Barker so I thought getting an idea of how the first 80 odd k's was going to be would be good. Anyway let me know.

I am going to be in SA for that weekend, leaving on the next day.
So I would love to catch up for a ride.
Nothing too strenuous, I will be recovering from the Mutual Community ride (Friday) and you know with the months of crook weather and now the flood calamity in Qld I have not been getting much riding done!
Regards, Steve

Depending on when you guys are starting and finishing(before 11am at max) i could come along. or i could just get the day off work to watch the race too :D

could meet in the city and roll on down to glenelg and along the coast and back. its all nice and flat and I think Anzac Hwy has bike lanes all the way to Glenelg. We could talior it to peoples time frames.

Is there any chance we can make this a early ride? 7am, in case it turns into a 2hr ride with a 1hr coffee :)

I dont know about the route, but maybe out to Flagstaff? I used to live out that way 20+ years ago love to ride out and have a look.

Anyone else have a BNA jersey to wear?

Flaggy is a fair ride from the city. I think you'd be as well going to the the Bay and then up the coast North.

7am at the Mall sounds good. Haighs Chocolates is at the King William St end opposite Hindley St - pretty easy to find.

An alternative to the beach is going down Main North Rd, Pt Wakefield Rd past Mawson Lakes, Salisbury Hwy, Kings Rd to Golden Gve, back down McIntyre, North East Rd and back to the City.

Whichever way - I'm keen.

Depends on what you want to get out of the ride as to where you might want to go.

Do you want a ride to take in scenery, or just a ride thru the burbs, or a ride that rides some effort.
If its a ride to take in Scenery, I could suggest heading down Anzac Highway from the City to Glenelg, but then head south along the beachfront down to Seacliff.
From there you could climb up on the cliffs around Marino/Hallet Cove depending on time before returning to the city via the same route.

Here is a recorded ride I did a while ago that follows a similar route:
http://connect.garmin.com/activity/39003840

As a rough estimate, Glenelg to Outer Harbor and return is around 50km, and at an avg of 28kph, will take about 1hr 40 mins to complete.
City to Outer Harbor via Glenelg is around 70km and will take 2 hrs 40 mins or so to complete

Is anyone keen on Sat morning as well? my mobile is 0457 599 621 and Ill be heading out for a ride Sat morning.
