Some criminals are incorrigible. Chains or bullets are the only effective therapies.

That doesn't have to be the first therapy offered to them. But it needs to be there as a last resort. Otherwise the crims are in control and laughing in your face.

Is it possible to get disqualified for drunk driving without undertaking to do some rehab ?

According to a report in todays Daily Telegraph, the woman was refused bail.

So at least one magistrate has got some sense of the seriousness of her conduct.

actually, who ends up suffering in the long run is the next person who she hits after we've finished throwing the book at her. it's of little comfort for family members of that person to know that she was previously punished for a previous similar incident. the priority should be to curb her behaviour.

So your idea of dealing with drunk drivers is AFTER they hit cyclist? That's not really reassuring when i'm out there riding on the roads. By having tougher laws in place and more gruesome media campaigns on cyclist getting hit and the devasting consequences from it, I believe would be a more logical next step. Yes the drunk driver does need to get help, I agree with that but there are always going to be drivers who risk being over the limit and driving, we just have to lower the amount of people who are going to risk it.
