Tomorrow is back to school day and it is my youngest son's first day at a new school. He asked me to catch the train with him.

It's interesting you say that. I've had a few quite fast rides of late and my legs weren't the best. I took a super gentle 15k ride along KBB this morning. Average HR 110. I think they actually feel better for it.Oxford wrote:my legs just felt toasted last night and even worse this morning, I know myself well enough to know losing one commute is better that losing many from an injury from over exertion.

They are horrid aren't they?Oxford wrote:well no excuses now, the backup gearie commuter is set up. riding the bus today was enough to cure me of public transport for a while. besides not running on time, some people now seem to think that using deoderant in sub tropical climates is optional.

But I forgot to use it and pinched the wife's hybrid to ride to work.

But.. boo! I hurt my back on the ride today and will be off the bike for a few days until it heals.

Took the machine out for a ride last night after spending a couple of weeks at the LBS. Still not resolved the internal hub issue. It will have to be a "one weekend in the future" job. Ride last night felt good but the humidity this week is going to be a killer. A later evening commute is beckoning and with the daylight still around, it shouldn't be too bad.
I have new panniers to try out so have stored the Brooks for now. Something to look forward to. Hope they have fixed the car park as the workmen late last year were using the women's changing room and leaving general messiness in the toilets (don't they know how to flush? not to do #1s on the floor?) *shudders*
So back to commuting again tomorrow. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

LOL that'll get ya, won't it. If I hit snooze even once on a commute day, that's it, I can kiss my ride goodbye. I envy your snooze-amenable scheduleMugglechops wrote:I hit stop instead of snooze on my alarm this morning
Well, I'll soon be out of excuses. I checked out the roads to work over the weekend and they are finally navigable. The council also cleaned up the Glass Gauntlet as part of their overall flood cleanup. Happy days! This morning, I finally, finally got my Crud Road Racer 2 mudguards fitted onto my road bike. Don't believe the marketing. It won't take you five minutes to do. It will take you five days of cursing, adjusting, tweaking, fiddling, cursing, tweaking, cursing, adjusting, cursing, tweaking, cursing, fiddling and more cursing. Don't forget the cursing. It's an important part of the ritual. I have just one last fairing to install, which hopefully won't affect the overall fit of the mudguard, and I'll be good to go. And my back and knee are feeling better too, so all things being well, I'll be riding to work tomorrow!

That looks nasty.
I spent 5 months off the bike after doing this.
And then it took me another 3 or so months to be able to do any sort of decent distance again.
