It is going to be busy on Sunday morning.

The ACTVCC will be conducting a time trial from 0800 which will use the crit track.

Perhaps more mature testers can take them for a quick 26km demo...

Cheers,

Cameron.

Anyone else go to this Specialized demo day? I did and rode a couple of road bikes, a Roubaix and a Tarmac. Very impressed with both bikes. The Roubaix is so smooth, absorbs all the bumps like a sponge but still stiff and light when you want to climb or sprint.

The Tarmac is more race orientated, not quite as smooth as the Roubaix but not harsh. Feels more nimble and lighter than the Roubaix. Feels very at home on the crit track.

It was my first ride of a DA 7900 eqipped bike (both bikes had DA 7900) and to be honest I was a bit meh about it. Don't get me wrong, it is a great groupset, changes were fast and smooth but I couldn't really pick any difference between it and the DA 7800 on my bike, except for the fatter hoods. I would of liked to try a Di2 version but they didn't have any.

Looked at some of the bikes at Lonsdales this arvo and wished I could have got out there. My main thought was giving Di2 a test if they had it but by the sounds of it nothing was running it. Prob best I didn't go as it would have only made me want a new bike :P

I went over but didn't get a ride as I only had my credit card with me.
Agree re DA7900 - I have bikes with both 7800 and 7900 and can't tell any significant difference.

They had the Tarmac and the Venge, I think I saw the Roubaix as well. I tried the Tarmac, and as luck would have it, the 58cm was the only S-Works model they had there so I took it for a spin. I would have taken a Venge out as well but it took 45 minutes to get me on the Tarmac and I didn't feel like standing around in the cold again so I left. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have an Ultegra Di2 demo bike either.

I thought the bike was nice, it felt much lighter than my Trek and it seemed to get up to speed very quickly. I wasn't as amazed as I thought I would be, but I was still feeling pretty flat from racing on Saturday so it was probably more me than the bike. I'm going to line up a proper test ride on both the Tarmac and the Venge with Ultegra Di2 from Lonsdale Street Cyclery and see what I think after that.

The mountain bikes were very popular, there didn't seem to be many people testing the roadies at all.

I was tempted to head back out later in the day with licence/CC but when I saw they only had mechanical groupsets I couldn't be bothered. Only real thing I was interested in trying was Di2

They had the Specialized demo day out at Stromlo last year and there seemed to be plenty of people test riding road bikes.

I forgot about this year's demo day which is probably just as well because last year it planted the seed and I ended up buying 2 Tarmacs! I would of liked to test ride a Venge though...

There is another demo day being held at Murarrie on the 12th and 13th May. They will have Venge, Roubaix, Tarmac, Amira and Ruby in the roadies.
