New Wheels question..

Ok, I'm riding a Kona Dew, it has 700c wheels on it, 32mm width at the moment.

Am considering upgrading the wheels, there are some decent Shimano race wheels around the traps from what I can see, just wondering if I get a narrower wheel, will the brakes on the bike at the moment work properly with these? I'd guess the sidewalls of the current braking surfaces on my wheels are about 2.5cm apart, the racing wheels look to be closer to 1.5cm... They usually have much narrower brakes on the bikes running these wheels right?

V brakes on the dew isn't it Janus?

If so, you might get away with reversing the pad washers on the brakes, one usually is thicker than the other for this sort of thing.

Yep, just regular V Brakes..

Would some 105 brakes or something like that fit on my frame? It's a basically an MTB frame with road components. The brake mounts are on the tubes running from the seat post to the rear axle.

'Fraid not Janus.

Totally different arrangement between Vbrakes and road calipers, you're stuck with Vs or short arm cantis.

If you can post a pic of the area in question it might help

Your v-brakes will work with ANY 700c rim. Remember that Mavic (etc) MTB rims can be just as narrow as any road rim.

Mini cantilevers might be the best way to go - like the one's Kona put on Jake the Snake (well, the only two Jakes I've seen had them).
