Converting shifters from down tube to stem

Postby twowheels » Sat Jan 12, 2008 6:14 pm

I'm sure I saw a post about this not long back, but can't seem to find it. Has anyone done this or remember the link? thanks.

Particularly interested to find out how others have secured the cable outer to the down tube, is there a clamp on available?

A search is sure to find the threads - there are / were more than one.
The quick answer is - if you have braze-on shifter mounts on the down tube, there are cable stops available that screw in to them. If you don't, then there are 'band-on' cable stops too.
Litespeed Classic - 3Al/2.5V titanium tube set, Record 9-speed groupset, Open Corsa Evo CX
Alchemy Diablo - Columbus Zonal tubing, Ultegra 9-speed groupset, UltraGatorskins
Gitane Rocks T1 - U6 tubing, Deore/XT groupset, CrossMarks

SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKYS. NOT REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN PUSHED DOWN THE STAIRS.
