recommended rim tape and tire liner.
Postby jeff_o » Mon Feb 21, 2011 10:39 am
I searched BNA and it seems like everyone's going for the Mr. Tuffy orange (700cx25c) tire liner so I'm all sold for that.
My question would be for rim tapes. I can see different varieties, rubber, nylon and then i saw this Continental easy tape and Vittoria. I'm not sure which one to get now What's the majority here using?

Don't use the rubber ones. They're crap.
As above, I've used Velox tape with great success.

saw the links thanks.... aren't there any local rim tapes here in AUS? seems pretty radical to order from wiggle uk for just 2 rim tapes and kill myself with shipping?

Any LBS worth its salt should have Velox rim tape. Probably for about the same price as Wiggle, too.

i just posted the wiggle link as an example of the product, go to a good LBS, they should stock it.

Sorry jeff for missing your qiestion. Yup it is the Easy Tape. Nothing that easy about it. I had less trouble mounting a ProRace3 tyre than each of the Conti rim tapes. They are very strong though and mould to the inside of my Mavics nicely. Not sure of the material used but at its limit when trying to mount one, it has just enough elasticity to do the job and really snaps down again quite hard. I do know theyre less forgiving and a hell of a lot tougher than the Michelin rim tapes I had previously. I deffo recommend paying the extra for them

thanks womble and no worries mate. i actually bought a pair this afternoon and finished my bike finally (in a separate thread). it took a while for me to put in the easy tape but it wasn't too hard thanks for all the inputs mates! The Womble wrote:Sorry jeff for missing your qiestion. Which rim tape width did you end up getting with the conti, 16 or 18mm? my rim is 19mm.

I got conti 16s. when i mounted them i realized conti 18s would be ok as well as there'r small gaps on both sides.igstar wrote:Which rim tape width did you end up getting with the conti, 16 or 18mm? my rim is 19mm.
