I am having 2 more Hydrocort injections right at the bottom of my spine on Thursday. Is it me or when doc's have an idea in their head it doesn't really matter what you tell them.
Anyway I don't know if it will help as I think the problem is higher...but it can't hurt, they are pretty strong so it will spread around a bit.
I am on the mend...but still am doing nothing exercise / stretching wise...funnily I could touch my toes first go while the surgeon was looking me over last Thursday.
The one thing he said was I had to lose lots of weight...I am not fat but I am a big guy,he reckons it will help a lot losing 15 kilos...no surprise there, but losing weight with no exercise is tough.
C'est la vie.

Hopefully and extended time off the bike and a chnage of scenery may get somewhere to recovering/discovering what the actual problem is, and then the holy grail of a solution.
May the force be with you !!

Also turns out L5-S1 i a lot higher than I thought...good things as it means it is roughly where the worst pain is.

I guy at work is a pretty exceptional XCtry skier, a Canadian. He had a frozen shoulder for about a year. Couldn't do anything. Physios, doctors etc. Manipulation, drugs. Nothing worked. Finally, he was recommended to an acupuncturist. He knew exactly what to do and released the ligament. Instant fix. It took a long time for the muscles to be back in shape though because he had been compensating for the ligament issue for a long time.
I had a similar experience with neck compression and acupuncture.
You have tried everything else, why not acupuncture?

Chatted again about this. The guy he uses teaches Acupuncture and is located in Crows Nest. He also said during the XCCY season there is a 'sheath' that runs down the sides of his body that would tighten up. All sorts of physio manipluation failed to loosen it up. The body fights back and tightens more. However, the needle in the right place released all the tension.toolonglegs wrote:Thought about it plenty of times...can't hurt if I can find someone.
I don't have any opinion on this one way or the other, just passing it on.

"that would tighten up" is the qualifiertrailgumby wrote:Why does the sheath only run down the sides of his body during the XC ski season?
It makes it sound like it doesn't tighten up when he's not XC skiing. Just goes to prove that exercise is dangerous and should never be done!

Over two weeks since the last injections...yes a bit of change but not a lot.
Well I am pretty much finished with everything here...maybe warmer climate and less damp will help when I am back in Oz!.

where can you buy this sheath ?trailgumby wrote:Why does the sheath only run down the sides of his body during the XC ski season?
frozen shoulders get better eventually regardless. can be 9-18months though
acupuncture shouldnt ever fix anything, but it does sometimes, and regardless of the placebo effect, if it gets the job done, works, thats fine.

Last Tuesday 18km
Thursday 25km
Friday 33km
Today 44km
Ok all is not great but it is a start. Not sure if the injections have started working after so long or not.But I feel pretty good.Still pretty sore around the lower T's and L1 junction...thorasiclombar?.Something like that...yup still the Syndrome des Maignes symptoms, but they are bearable on a bike and just as importantly don't get worse after the ride. The pain is very specific now at that junction with zero referred pain anywhere else which is great.I am very tight in my butt/flexors etc but will slowly work that out...after nearly a year off I will take it pretty slow.
Long way to go yet...when I can do up my shoelace easily I will be fixed!...and I know it could all go backwards in a couple of weeks if the injections are working.
So fingers crossed!.
