Sorry to hear that mate, hope the insurance claim goes well for you and the wounds heal quickly.nutsack wrote:Well I'm out. Got doored at 30kph today and wrote off my bmc. Also busted a finger and needed some stitches. Wounds are no big deal but the bike is rooted (multiple frame cracks) and insurance claim will no doubt take ages.nutsack wrote:Have entered. Have done the full distances of Amy's ride, ride like crazy, tdu this season. Coast to coast looks like big descent once you get to stirling, should be fun. Also my first time doing all of these rides having only started road cycling last March.

Hope you recover quick and that the driver gets what is deserved.
Had a very close call with a bus last night on my ride, and will be reporting it this morning.

I'm having crazy thoughts of buying a replacement bike in time for coast to coast while waiting for the insurance claim.

It just starts to seem a bit pointless getting to the end of 4 - 5 hrs of hard slog and not having anyone to share it with . I'm quite familiar with group riding etiquet, but my regular group are not able to make this ride. I'll eventually be picked up by family at VH.

As tim on skin said I was looking for someone to ride with from Stirling and was catching the bus back home. Your pace would be about right for me a lot of down hills. was looking to finish in just under 4 hours?. Let me know where you are starting from.

Slightly less challenging than the MCCT but 10 times more enjoyable. Finished up in 4hrs 7mins at 28.75kph average.
Perfect weather, loved the police escort up cross road, wish I could ride on the freeway up to devils elbow everytime, Adelaide Hills were stunning, tail wind through Kuitpo was awesome (drove hard on that section ), just as good through to Myponga(ish) and felt strong up the last climb and into the finish.
Apart from the great weather and even better course/scenery I think what made the ride so enjoyable was the perfect number of riders, with 2000 odd its enough to form some good groups and enjoy that but not too many to make drink/food stops and the finish a nightmare. I also think the finish at Victor is a bit nicer than Amy's ride as the McLaren Vale Visitors Centre can be a bit of a dust bowl.
The only one I haven't done now, which seems to get the biggest wraps, is Ride Like Crazy so hopefully next year I can add that one to the palmarès.
