Cycle of giving ride 26/02/11

Postby Comedian » Sat Jan 08, 2011 6:39 pm

Who would like to give this a nudge? It's free. Just register by Feb 20th. The only downside I can see is it's a 6am start at Landsborough and the trains don't leave that early on the weekend so you'll have to con someone into driving you up there!

Here is the ride poster.

I guess it's good practice for the Ipswich 100 miler in April which I'm also lining up for

Best of luck with the ride. I just hope it doesn't turn out to be A Script For A Jester's Tear.

I'll register - will have to skive off from the young fella's cricket that day, hope he understands :| . I'll probably do the ride from Caboolture Station - Lansborough at 0600 is far to early, I needs my sleep...

Got an email this morning saying I have been drawn in the raffle to get a Jersey. Anyone else get one? I suspect there must be a lot of jerseys as I never win anything!

So who else is in? I'm told this is a real feel good ride. It's a super good cause and they run it really well. I've just washed the bike to within an inch of it's life and I'm pumped!

After being on the receiving end the brilliant work of the Docs at Prince Charles and also tissue donation I intend on being there for this ride.

I'm riding up from Kallangur to meet the ride, hopefully in time for the start.

I am doing the Caboolture - Prince Charles section ..... riding up from North Lakes. If I ride home as well it will be 100 K + for the day which is enough for me.

As I didn't score a free jersey I will be an oldie in a Dutton's kit.

See you there, Comedian. I'll look out for the big banana :)

I'll be taking the velomobile but will be riding it to the start line (Caboolture) from home - couldn't be bothered ferrying it with a car and then having to collect the car - I'd rather just ride home from the PCH. That will give me 120km for the day which is enough for my knees. :D I'll be leaving home at 4am to make the registration time. Hopefully there won't be too many drunk drivers around at 4am on a Saturday

I would have loved to start from Landsborough as the scenery would be splendid. See you when I see you.

Wohoo... survived. It was pretty good fun. We had a bit of a blast early on (I found myself out the front until the shop) but we had to slow down a bit to keep the group together. Only downside was a bit of waiting at various points. Anyway, great cause and great ride. Thanks to the organisers and I wish them well with getting the message out there.

Considering the frequent stops, that's a good pace! Ditto to the organisers - well done and I might try the ride from Landsborough next year. The police (in the end) were very helpful directing traffic but they expected us to ride in the gutters a little bit too much - a couple of folks got flats as a result. One of them actually said that 'car drivers are being forced to overtake on double lines...'. Err. OK.

The ride up to Caboolture in the morning was lovely - watching the sun rise slowly and listening to the birds with the smell of eucalypts (and manure) adding to the ambience.

Great to see you again Comedian. Sorry we couldn't chat for longer but I had to get home for a big lunch followed by a nana-nap :D

Cheers!

I went to Landsborough to pick the car up about two and there were a couple of groups just finishing the ride back there. Well done folks!

I believe the organisers were very happy with the turnout... they got 219 or something like that. The biggest ride by far for them. Hopefully next year there will be even more.

It's a great ride.. they put of free food and drinks for everyone.. there are celebs there too. (I was like 5m from Jessica this morning and the wife said hello to her at the finish). And it's free.

It has been a good reminder to talk to my family about this as you can't take your bits with you and I'll talk to the dudes at work too.. if it just gets people to talk it's done it's job. :)
