CYCLING SA executive director Max Stevens has been allegedly

Postby Aushiker » Mon Feb 21, 2011 10:52 am

Hi

Stolen directly from Adelaide Cyclists so no more details sorry but thought this might be of interest here ..
CYCLING SA executive director Max Stevens has been allegedly caught behind the wheel despite being banned from driving

Stevens was stripped of his license on demerit points, and was also caught drink-driving before Christmas.
Police are investigating why Stevens is continuing to drive while disqualified - as recently as Friday afternoon he was witnessed by the Sunday Mail driving in the western suburbs."

I'm unfamiliar with Cycling SA, or what good or bad work Max might have done as part of it, but just from an outsiders perspective a disqualified driver, and one that had been caught drink driving at 3X the legal limit if I read correctly, seems like an odd person to keep in such a role irrespective of whether or not he is still driving while disqualified (although that logically doesn't help)...

I'm sure there are reasons, just seems odd.

Just remember he comes from an AFL background so it would seem logical to end up with a DUI or something similar

The worst bit, was that he is due in court for driving whilst suspended already citing that " he didn't know he was suspended "

Best bit was that as reported, "he got into the car, put the key in the ignition, saw that he was spotted, sat in the back for a while, and then called a cab"

SPRUNG !!!!!! :P :P :P

Seems sort of hypocritical with Cycling SA's role in suspending Dale Parker for drink driving and breaching his provisional licence conditions.

Im puzzled as to why he still has access to a "company car" IIRC from the photo in the paper.....

Maybe it's his own, and he gets the perks of having a "company car" by splashing it with Cycling SA paintwork.

Sunday mail had a follow up, and he is now on a bike, with CyclingSA "investigating" and the bopard is trying to understand what the issues are with his lisence.

How hard can it be to understand that he lost it, and then drove without it ?

I saw the van he was allegedly driving in North Adelaide this afternoon. One of the back windows was covered in cardboard and looked like it had been smashed by someone.
