New GENUS ...of Bicycle... Can you make this Sunnycle

Postby sunny_fruit » Mon Feb 14, 2011 12:35 am

A few days ago accidentally invented a new kind of bicycle

Today I made pictures(drawings) of this bike
and because I am unable to do it ... for now
... now, I post photos on the internet
... and looks forward to seeing who will do it first
...... if you're handy,
...Do it

It is:

A new type of propulsion (lever)
A new type of control (saddle-back)

- lighter
- faster
- comfortable
- Can be folded
- Front wheel drive
- With an excellent aero-dynamic
- Simply arranged and therefore cheaper
- The pedals move reciprocating - and not circular
- The pedals move independently of one another
- multi - speed lever drive system
- Free - Hands bicycle
- Turbo Mode

Rear wheel steering doesn't work. Just so you know.

An interesting concept but unfortunately I feel doomed from the start.

Chain and pedal is way more efficient than the lever system and rear wheel steering except in one or two specific instances has been a failure. Don't believe me. Try driving a rear steer forklift at any speed.

Good to see people experimenting but it is probably better to design around what has been proven to work.

Yes ... now I know what you think and what are your worries

?? ... Rear-Wheel-Steering RWS

Ordinary road bike has some shortcomings that do not like ... they are:

... Not better aerodynamics
... non-comfortable seat
... inability to use the full force of the cyclist

These flaws are gone in this new species bicycle

... but the price is - RWS

... all say that this species bikes are awkward to manage ... and I knew about this flaw ...

what are the reasons RWS is unstable and difficult to manage:

... RWS - tadpole

... long-wheelbase (distance between the two big wheels)
... high center of gravity of the driver
... smaller wheels

It is a compromise between these three conditions:

.. the least possible distance between the wheels (- the radius)
... the lowest possible position of the cyclist (height diameter)
.. possible large wheels (32 "- 37")

So this is the result ...
... and since no one has ever proven ... and do not share the experience of using this type of bike (with those dimensions and proportions) ... and in my search on the internet, I saw nothing like this bike

... and so I will not draw your attention to your comments .. and I will use RWS

As you can see ... an athlete in POWERLIFTING ... can exert a force equal to x 3 - x 6 ... own weight …between the ground and your shoulders

If he rode a bicycle to drive with Lever Support (shoulders) ... he will be able to exercise this power, pressure on the pedals - x3 - x6 X-Bwt(Exact Bodyweight)

If he rode a bicycle with a simple round Chainring
... under pressure on the pedals will vary between X 0.3 - X 1 X-Bwt (support is gravity)

Adding:
... simple construction
... more light weight
... the opportunity to pedal through the command speed and the brakes
... the possibility of simultaneously pressing both pedals
... short pressure or pressure long ... you choose !..

... So I chose ... LDSS

A few observations,

1) Ideas and inventions come with out of the box thinking, and is often a gift.
2) There are way way more "inventions" than what's really practical in real life.
3) Making an invention work requires common sense.
4) Publication of this idea in an open forum has just turned it into public domain, and no longer patentable.
5) Without a patent, there'll be few financial backers willing to get involved.
6) Without financial backers, the project will likely stay to be a hack project and stay that way.

The reason they are unstable is that the centrifugal forces acting on the centre of mass in a turn tend to force a RWS vehicle into ever-tighter circles of oversteer.

Front-wheel steer vehicles are dynamically stable as the centrifugal forces acting on the centre of mass tend to force the vehicle straight... unless you lose grip at the rear.

Losing grip at the rear (oversteer), a situation analogous to rear wheel steer, is far more difficult to recover from than understeer and usually requires very quick reflexes to successfully control. Let it get past a certain point, and it doesn't matter how good you are, you've lost control.

Given that you don't have the front wheel steering on your vehicle to enable recovery, your bicycle design is dangerous and a potential fatality waiting to happen. Do not build it. Any second year automotive engineering student would be able tell you this.

Methinks Sunny Froot Loop is a good name. ;-)

There are lots of "Sunny"s out there. Usually thinking they have a "new" idea, then rush to tell everyone about it without bothering to do basic research first, build a prototype or protect their intellectual property.

Anyone can post a few drawings on line and ask someone else to do the real work of making it work. IMHO, it's just another form of trolling.

Interesting thinking, and i like to see people exercising their minds, but the problem with these kinds of pedalling systems is they put a lot more stress on the joints, instead of a continuous smooth motion as with normal cranks, you would have to suddenly stop and then reverse the motion of your leg.

Personally i think sunny is showing some good thinking, just needs to look into the realities of the interaction between human and machine. A simpler form of recumbent is a good thing i feel (looking at making my own and baulking a bit at the long and convoluted chainline).

this new type of bicycle is not completed…

…I see you are a designer and you obviously easier to complete the drawing

last lever drive system for this bike has no steel Power Cable, without cable reels, without Freewheel mechanisms …double shorter crank arm - (it simpler constructions, lighter weight, more comfortable for joints)

spokes will have oval section ... two opposite spokes will be attached to the hub in a socket with a rubber pad and metal holder ... and top cap - (for easy replacement, softer ride, break-resistant)

Energy saving brake ...on front wheel ... it is a roll creating pressure in the frame - (energy from braking ...to be used for departure)

Ok - Love all the comments - Nothing much constructive - Lets try this from another perspective. Rear Wheel - think unicycle bottom bracket. That way you can have direct drive to the back wheel. (now the front wheel)
Don't know if I would want to ride one of these though. Not in traffic. Maybe in the circus where I normally ride this sort of bike.
I love your lateral thinking - Keep up the good work. Wayne

Interesting, lever drives like this predate the chain drive see Wikipedia on the Treadle Bicycle.

There's another thread here about another similar idea.

We shouldn't be too down on new ideas but there is a history of re-invention in bike design, we should all be aware of the history.

note of what suggest now
A the alternative that presented earlier .... just unfortunate history

explanation is ... joint between the two parts of the bicycle frame is a little more specific ... when cornering, the front wheel tilt ... so both tires move after another ...
... This makes STABLE AND PRACTICAL ...
