info for a newbie?

Postby ldrcycles » Mon Feb 28, 2011 7:15 pm

just read the thread asking about bents for those with back problems, and as my girlfriend has a bad back and i twisted mine the other day, i'm now looking into bents a lot more seriously than before. Just wanting to know what shops etc in south east qld are best for info? I'm presently building a tandem from some old roadies so i have no hesitation in making a bent like the one on the above mentioned thread but i have NO idea about geometry etc.

Not too hard to build. Some good designs on net. Take a look at Atomic Zombie. Ive buit two from here. Also google recycledrecumbent. Its a Tourezy clone. I've built 5 for myself and others and they are all great. Starts with an ordinary steel frame bike and becomes a long wheelbase bent. Iv'e also built a Bentech. Plans available on net.

As said bents are great for bad backs.

Short for Recumbent.

Then again maybe it describes the riders.

Just to make sure there's no confusion:

Here is a photo of three bent riders on non-bent bicycles:

and here is a photograph of an unbent rider on a 'bent bike:

And a 'bent tandem with the riders bent 180 degrees:

And this guy's not bent, he's just twisted.

Hope that clarifies it for you.

Very Funny. I nearly wet myself laughing and my wife had to come to see and she too had to get a tissue.
