“Lets build a long bike”
It came together over a few weeks… there were a few miner problems
Here it is just after it was finished

Now I was happy as it was soooo comfortable and it powered along at a good rate of knots.
But my mate Bob’s a bit of a perfectionist and he thought the only way to fix those few problems was to start again.
So Long Bike 2 was built and in doing so we use bits from the first one to the point where the first one ceased to exist.
While all the problems were fixed it had one draw back and that was it was heavy
Like very heavy at well over 30ks [more like 40]
It’s a great bike to ride [without a load] and I’ve never ridden a bike more comfortable.
I put a Nexus 8 hub on it to give 24 gears [from a low of 18gear inches to a high of 80 and while it would be nice to have higher at times not at the expense of giving up the low]
I had thought [before we started building it] it might be a good touring bike but no
So the “Limo” is part of my stable and I ride it once a week [50 to 100ks]

Long Bike 2 is almost "Too Long Bike" :D

Looks like a heap of fun and I like the double 26" wheels. Dual suspension too! Do you get much bobbing or power-robbing compression in the rear spring?

Cheers,
Graeme

Limo is right, she looks fabulous Leigh. :D

Any chance of some detail shots, specifically the steering arrangement?

I just looove the long wheel base bikes, nice work lads. I must confess that i seriously deliberated over importing a Burley Koosah but the chappies at fedex wanted my house as security to ship one over.

Very generous of you Recycler, however I dare not take on another project just yet, still have the inside renovations to finish, the outdoor area to start, have a 1200 bandit thats itching to have a turbo fitted, then there's the yard blah blah blah blah. Anyway you get the idea, BUT I will build a recumbent and when I do create the time I reckon a couple of beers at the Woolgoolga Bowls Club would be the best way to kick off.

cheers
