TT Helmet

Postby hanzao » Sun Mar 06, 2011 10:11 pm

I got a TT bike now, thinking of getting a TT helmet for shits and giggles. Was thinking of a Catlike Chorno with Lens, what do what you guys use for Time Trial / Triathlon.

I believe it needs an australian standards sticker if you are to race with it, the linked one does not. I have a Limar speed demon which is ok if you have a skinny head like I have, its pretty tight on your ears otherwise. You can get a Lazer Tardiz with an Australian sticker which is better for bigger heads.

+ 1 for Lazer Tardiz. Personally I like the model and it have dimple like zipp wheels. LOL

But, actually I haven't tried it yet, but I have Rudy Project Wingspan and it's damn fast when I tested it back ago (not for race though). Although it doesn't have Australian Standard sticker on it.

Hi, i am looking at purchasing a helmet for a few time trials that i will be racing in this year and am not really sure what helmets are available with the australian standard AS2063:2008.

Does anyone have a list or know where we can find out ? There are a heap of helmets out there but i dont really know what i can and cant buy.

If you want to wear a TT helmet on the road and be legal, as well be sure you are wearing a helmet that has gone through a strictly codified safety regime then it must have an AS/NZS 2063:2008 sticker

another +1 for the Tardis

Very comfortable with decent ventilation. Even has a spot, which comes with a cover, where you can poor water through to cool your head. I have used it on a longer TT in sumer and it was quite nice.

Wont work with any of the newer stickers as they have a tamper protection layer which will show it to be void.

The rules governing helmet standards for racing in Australia under CA and for triathlon are different. The ANZ compliance is a requirement for CA, it isn't for TA.

You can't put an ANZ sticker on a non-compliant helmet anyway as those helmet types are already known not to comply. The stickers are tamper proof anyway.
