I learned a couple lessons yesterday.

1) large amount alcohol consumption combined with 5hrs sleep and a japanese degustation dinner with minimal carbs is not an ideal way to prepare for a century ride

2) hastely put together bike for a century ride hurts after about 60km

I ended up doing the ride in a bout 4h20

Up until 30 to go I was set for a sub 4h ride but then blew up - no amount of gels or carb bars go me faster than low 20kph speeds.

However it was a fantastic day with the weather, the course, and the turnout. MCCT was definitely harder/challenging. C2C more like Ridelike crazy.

Definitely in next year (plus the other 3 organised rides).

I learnt the same lesson re carb loading, I didnt have my usual Carbonara pasta meal the night before and really felt it in the last 40km, no power in the legs, and being Diabetic it is very hard to just shove gels and powerbars down your throat to get through. Having said that and considering a new bike set up and new speedplay pedals my ride time was 4hrs 30mins (not sure if it is right but seems about right had a few longer stops at hydration points). My tight hamstrings and very sore drivers slowed me down some but the new set up will take a few rides to get used to. I was happy with the ride all things considered and I now have a time to beat next year! :D Congrats to all the other riders and the organizers and helpers along the way.

yeah some stats from the garmin:-

average moving speed coast to coast = 36kph
average return speed = 26kph!!!! nanna's ride home....
climbing = 2300m
top speed = 82kph
calories = 7800
distance = 212km

legs are still good, but the energy levels are pretty low!!!!!! seat was perfect after 200km so that is a good thing!!!

I had what I felt like my best ride ever!!

At Crafers I joined up with a CIBO rider and another guy and we were joined about 10km from Willunga by the orange BG guys. Stopped briefly at Willunga then we all took off together and quickly joined up with two Bicycle Express riders. We were all together until the hills at the 80km mark and my legs felt really good so I went off the front and did the last 40km on my own pretenting I was O'Grady in the Paris - Roubaix :roll:

3h.29m.11sec - I was massivley happy with this.

However - my legs are pretty sore today but I did have to go straight home after and go to work so I got no stretching in!!
