Repainting a Frame

Does anyone here know a panel beater or powdercoater in Sydney that is experienced in stripping and repainting frames?

Star Enamellers in Bankstown (02 9790 - 1025).

They are not cheap (about $200 I'm told) but are extensively used by the trade and classic/vintage restorers.

If you can get your frame to Melbourne, Bicycle Recycle in Moorabbin do a good powdercoat for about $100.

I've just bought an late 70s/early 80s Kuwahara roadie with Ishiwata EXO-H quadruple butted tubing - 2140grams. I am surprised at how light the entire bike is even with circa 80s parts - feels like it is under 10kg.

I want to get it repainted or powdercoated in pearl white.

make sure they (or you to be on the safe side) tape off the bottom bracket, head tube and seat tube. Damn hard to get a seat post back in with a couple of layers of paint inside the seat tube

Who did you end up finding a powdercoater in sydney? Who dit you use? I am also on the look out for a good powdercoat shop in sydney, that knows how to deal with bikes.

I can thoroughly recommend John Boveski at Cycle underground in Taren Point.

He recently stripped, repaired and resprayed and old Centurion bike that I've had sitting about for years.

The job he did was fantastic!

I think he does powder coating for a bit less than paint, but I'm happy with the paint.

They also clean the thread of the bottom bracket and tidy the paint up so rebuilding is a piece of cake.

I didn't send it in eventually, figured out the frame is too large for me. I was going to send it to Precision Powdercoating at Seven Hills.

Thanks for that. I spoke to the guys at cheeky monkey and they put me in touch with cycle underground (95250778). They specialize in bikes and restoration. prices look good too. $120 for a bead blast and powder coat.

Precision Powdercoating charged the same too.
$50 for sandblasting and $70 for the powdercoating.

Since the cycle underground is a bike repair shop - I'd go with them instead.
