Kev is not only a member but he's driving the race program now and doing a great job coming up with more variety in the race calendar. It's just a shame I'm working so many weekends at the momentStrawburger wrote:I think Kev365428 is as well.
MCCC is a good club, you won't regret joining. Sorry but I can't give you any info on their Saturday morning ride as I've never ridden it. Hopefully Kev will see this thread and provide some feedback.hannos wrote:I'm considering starting to race (at the ripe age of 38!).
My local is the MCCC - Macarthur Collegians Cycling Club.
Do we have anyone here who is a member and who does the Saturday mornign ride from Mt Annan?
Hope to see you out there in the near future

Was out on Saturday as well. Pity I didn't see this thread beforehand, would have sought you out to say hi.
Saturday rides are good, but mine wasn't all that flash this weekend, but that's another story.
As we are nearing the end of the crit season, we only have 3 more races scheduled for this season - the MCCC Open Criteriums next Sunday (3rd April), a graded crit race on April 10th, and an Elimination Crit race on April 17th as a part of our Club Championships. The elimination crit is for MCCC members only.
I will be there on the 3rd as Commissaire of the meet, but no racing (I hate crits 'cause I can't sprint). I suggest you drop by and have a look. Being an Open event, there will be a lot of top riders there to compete for the increased prize money. Some of the fastest crit racing in Sydney on this course.
The race on the 10th is a graded affair. Don't be put off at starting your racing at 38, I was 43 when I took it up. If you want to have a go, a day license will set you back $15, which will be deducted from your yearly license if you decide to join up.
The winter season consists mainly of road races, which I prefer. We used to run a winter series at Menangle, but a lack of competitors saw us drop it this year. We do run as a part of our club championships an ITT at Menangle (17km), a Hillclimb ITT up Old Razorback, and an all-in scratch and reverse handicap road race at Menagle (51km). Additional to these races are the Interclub series we run with Other Southern Division clubs such as Southern Highlands, Illawarra, Nowra, Goulburn, and Eurobodalla. Each club (except Eurobodalla) hosts a handicap road race and points are awarded to 15th place. This series is my favourite event of the whole year, and all my training/racing is geared towards this. Absolutely love it.
Anyway, check the website for more info, and let me know if you need any additional information via this thread, or PM me, or ring me (phone number is on the website).
Cheers mate,
Kev.

Thanks Kev,
I'll do my best to drop down on the 10th, maybe even race. Unfortunately can't make the 3rd at all due to prior engagements.
Next chance of the Saturday group ride is the 9th, maybe... Sister's 40th that day so need to make it to that at a decent time and I can't remember what time it starts!
