Does anyone know if the Wangaratta- Bright Rail Trail is suitable for road bikes with 23mm tires or does it need something a bit more ruggard.
Thanks

Re: Bright rail trailI believe that the entire route is sealed - at least thats what the website says - http://www.railtrails.org.au/states/tra ... l&trail=22
I rode from Bright to the Winery west of Myrtleford in January on 23mm tyres and found the trail surface just fine - better than a lot of roads here in NSW actually. cheers grant
Re: Bright rail trailThanks Grant, I saw comment that it was sealed but some photos showed gravel. Perhaps they have not been updated since it was sealed.
Re: Bright rail trailSealed surface with local gravel embedded in it. Visually it looks like a gravel road, which is very pleasing to the eye. I rode a 300km Audax event out there 3 years ago and we rode from Everton to Beechworth (~20kms) on the railtrail. I was riding 20mm tyres and had no concerns.
Photos from my family's 5-day tour of the railtrail. Near Tarrawingee At Eurobin station site Riding bikes in traffic - what seems dangerous is usually safe; what seems safe is often more dangerous.
Re: Bright rail trailI rode about half of it a few weeks ago on 23 mm tyres. Nothing to worry about. Most of it is better than a lot of sealed roads.
Nobody younger than 27 has experienced a month with temperatures lower than the 20th century global monthly average.
Re: Bright rail trailForget about worrying about tyres- its the magpies that will bother you.
