That is fantastic. Did you podium? Seriously that is encouragement to get off the front in RR-Crits in your own right.philip wrote:Did the 25km solo this weekend in 39:00 giving an average speed of 38.5km/h.

It's good going for sure but would be outside top 10 I'd say. Winners usually post times in the 34 to 35 minute range.ft_critical wrote:That is fantastic. Did you podium? They've just put the results up, I was 14th overall, my time was actually 38:59 so I have a fair bit of work still to do, first place was 35:06. Pretty happy with it being my first solo TT though. There was a lot of serious gear up there! Will go back again for sure. It's funny that I say that now though - while doing the TT you're just in pain pretty much the whole time thinking "why the hell am I doing this!?" but as soon as you cross the line your mentality totally changes and you think "wow that was awesome I've gotta come back and do it again and beat my time!"ft_critical wrote:That is fantastic. It's a great form of racing - I really encourage people to go up there and do it. Good for first time racers, no issues with other riders, or crashes etc - just you and the clock. And then work out how to improve. And getting better at TTs = getting better at just about everything else on a bike ('cept sprinting).

Results for yesterday are here: http://www.atta.asn.au/db/002.php?page= ... id=nsw4_11, index of more results here. This is the profile:mikesbytes wrote:Phillip, where are the results? What's the profile of this particular route?
so on the way out it's mostly a gradual uphill, except for "blood hill" which you get to climb on the way back. Coming back is fast, I didn't check my time at the turnaround point though so not sure what the time difference is. The road is pretty dead too.

As an indicator, that's not too bad.philip wrote:mikesbytes wrote:This is the profile:
Just to be a little pedantic though (and it may of course not be your picture), course elevation profiles should be plotted as a function of distance, not time as this one shows.
Doing it versus time makes the downhills appear steeper than they actually are and the uphills less steep than they actually are. It also gives the impression that the outward leg as being further than the return leg, which might be OK if you are traveling near the speed of light, but not at regular TT speeds.
On the Calga 24.X km course, the out leg is usually a couple of minutes slower than the return, depending on wind. On a very windy (60km/h) day once I had a 6-min difference between outward and inward legs.

The course used by ATTA has never been used for a championship*. They courses have shared some roads though.mikesbytes wrote:The 2009 one?Alex Simmons/RST wrote:Nomikesbytes wrote:Alex, is that the course we did the NSW TTT on last year?

ATTA is always the first Sunday of every month, with the very rare exception of some Januarys when it might be moved to 2nd Sunday.mikesbytes wrote:Thanks Alex, I've been wanting to come out and do the ITT but the dates have clashed so far.

Canberra Tour clashes with the first round of the masters super series. That's where most of the top NSW masters riders will be.mikesbytes wrote:Haven't got my calendar out in front of me, but I think that makes the next one the week after Canberra (have you entered, they have a new M4/5/6+ category). This is a map of the Calga NSW ITT Championships course.
Are there hills on this course?
What's the road surface like?
I presume the road is still open to the public, what's the traffic like?
Are there any 'budget' hotels near by?
