Great timing with the doco coming to get me going for the big one.

Hats off to SBS for taking at least these 2 Classics so seriously, and going that little bit extra by putting this documentary on as well.

I'm not looking forward to the commentary (please, don't tell me again about the fact that the cobbles are only used by 240 year old farmers to take their cows to moonlight cinemas or whatever!) but I do love the whole atmosphere of this race!

2007 was a scorcher, and an Aussie won it, so I don't mind if it's not wet :D

But I do love the mud-caked races the best.

This will be one of the best Paris-Roubaix we will see I think. Very open and lots of people with something to prove – Boonen has to prove he can hold Fabio's wheel and that he is not tactically inept. Gee, have you been reading what Fabio has been saying? Man he is starting to believe that he really is a Roman Gladiator. So he is setting himself up for a fall I think. Garmin, I reckon they will have to be on the front this race. But I don't think that either Haussler or Hushovd still have the form to take it through to the finish. I don't think this will be the day for Chav. Cav won't last. Goss has been sick. Boassan Hagen is out. I am going to go for a young gun win this year. I think the big boys will smash each other. I think Flecha will be there when Fabio makes his final attack. And that Geraint Thomas will have been following him(Flecha) all day as Sky co-leader. He will make the move with Fabio and will have the legs to out sprint him in the Velodrome if he holds his nerves. I think that Langeveld might be there at the end too. Fabio third again.

I just read the paris robaix preview on cycling news and he is sounding like his ego is expanding if he has been quoted correctly and not too selectively. Would be pretty hard to stay grounded if you were that good though. probably controversial but I liked this quote;

"I lost by trying to win, the others rode only to make me lose. And in the end the one who was always in the wheels won. Congratulations to Nuyens, but for me [winning] like that has no value.”

Some others were a bit cringe worthy though;

“I’m very happy: there were fifty of them behind a gladiator,”

“In Flanders I was the only one of the big riders in front, and so I would say I am still the number one favourite,” he said. “I am the only man in the world who can make an attack like the one in Flanders, or in Roubaix in 2010. Everybody knows that if I’m at 100 percent they have to fasten their seatbelts, like on an aeroplane.”

He gives a great interview, doesn't he? But then again, he was Mr Classics last year, so I can forgive him being a bit confident. Besides, this is Paris-Roubaix... no room for the weak!

Monday off - hmmm, cough cough, hope my boss never reads this forum! cough, cough... :D

I was so stoked to read Paris Roubaix was going to be on but when I go to the Cycling Central web site it says live eastern states only. So what does that mean for Western Australian viewers? We get it but on a delay? Or we don't get it? Or we get it later in the week? There is no information! I don't work Monday till 3pm so was really excited to be watching one of the best spring classics and now I don't know if I'll get to see it.

If you can put me out of my misery I'd appreciate it
Regards
Nathaniel

SBS start streaming it live on cyclingcentral at 9pm, available here which I'm guessing is going to be the best quality one available.

Eurosport is from 8:30pm on Foxtel. Should be epic.

Question though, how is taking a day off after staying up until 0130am part of HTFU?
