Should I give it a ‘full work over’ or leave it ‘as is’?

I managed to find two tyers that had been sitting on the LBS wall for god knows how long and two tubes to fit.
This is a great bike.
With it’s odd sized wheels it still rides like a full sized bike…
The wheel base is wide giving it the feel again of a full size bike…
I’ve had it for a month or so and everyone who has a ride on it says …
“Wow! I like it…didn’t expect it to feel so good”

1969 Malvern Star "Family" model bicycle made in Mount Waverley, Melbourne, by General Accessories,(serial number 1041574).
The bike was assembled in Australia from imported Japanese parts. Besides the rare 22 inch wheels, the Malvern Star also has SA three speed hub gears {AW}, mudguards, a chain guard, and Araya chrome rims made in Japan.

I have something similar with 22" wheels/ tyres - a 'Courteney', manufactured for Graecross Industries, Bayswater, VIC. It is Japanese, all steel, with Shimano 3 spd hub and shifter, enclosed chainguard, mudguards, sprung saddle, rack, basket, bell, bottle dynamo and light, in a lovely red. It is in excellent condition, and all original as far as I can tell. All, or most components seem to be made in Japan. The whitewall tyres are in good nick also!

Yes… there seemed to have been a rash of small wheel bikes showed up in the early 70’s…. maybe in answer to the Moulton [not the right spelling] win in a few races.
Your 'Courteney' and a French one and the Star all had 22 inch wheels…
Then there were the 20 inch ones like the ‘Raleigh 20’ [I have one as well but the “Star” ride better by a long shot.]

Dose your one ride well?

If I was sub- 5' tall, it might ride better! Designed by small Japanese people for small Japanese people, me thinks. It seems to ride ok. The 3spd works ok. 22" x 1.75" tyres cushion ok. Teddy thinks the basket is ok. If I can fit it with a longer seatpost, might take it for a more serious cruise along my local bike paths. I only picked it up a few months ago, and the main thing is, it looks ok! I can send a mobile phone pic. PM me if so

Well if that the case it's nothing like my "Star"
It has a wheel base as long as a road bike and my 6foot4inch mate can ride it.

Wheelbase on 'Courteney' is 100.5cm/39.5". Seat tube ~35cm/14". Effective top tube ~51cm/20". Probably very similar to dimensions of yours, looking at pic Seatpost and bar are nowhere near as tall as yours, limiting 174cm/5' 8.5" people like myself.

Frame construction is different to yours in that ovalised downtube joins separate seat tube just above BB. No plans to modify mine. It appears to be in 99% complete, original condition, right down to tyres, brake pads, grips and rear kickstand. Only a rear tailight or reflector appears to be missing.

Sell it? Hell, it cost me $20 to have the forks professionally repaired.
Gimme $20, pick it up & it's yours, ... anybody.
I can deliver to some parts of Sydney or the ACT
I'll see if I can do a picture or two soon but don't expect a pristine example, more of a 'restorers delight'

I found it on a Farm when fixing a phone service one day & the lady of the house gave it to me as it was just taking up space in an open tumbledown shed. I took it to save it from destruction & to pass it on to somebody who wanted it.
