My wife and 2 year old son were waiting for me as I got home tonight, just after sunset. Apparently the sight of my bike from 400m away is unmistakeable. They thought I was a motorbike :-)

The Sublimation-cyclist: Sublimation is the process whereby a solid turns directly into a gas.

A sublimation-cyclist has evolved to a point whereby they can readily transform themselves and their wheeled contraption into vapour. Hence their propensity to make seemingly impossible passes, scaring the crap out of those coming in the opposite direction (yes I am talking to you, the idiot from last night who decided to leap out from behind two peds near the UTS rowing club and “share” molecules with me).

And here's me about to complain about the same thing;)

I hate that bit. I actually reckon it has become more dangerous with the barriers. If you do walk (in cleats) and it's wet you slip on the painted bits and if you ride your tyres are all over the place. They could have put the barriers there without the paint.

One day I intend starting up a Glossary for Unicyclists. First entry will be as follows:

Stalker Cloud: an alto-annoyus homing cloud that, in otherwise fair skies, finds, tracks and rains on only you.

Topical at the moment because there is the La Nina Stalker Cloud Convention being held in Sydney this Autumn.

The BoM weather radar website is my tool of choice to avoid stalker clouds. You can pick the walkers, cyclists and motorcyclists in our office by their use of the weather radar website from 4pm.

Linda Blair Helmet Syndrome: A state of being, commonly caused by demon possession or generalised-life-induced-confusion, in which a cyclist mistakes the back of their head for the front and wears their helmet accordingly.

Thread resurrection! I just found the bikehack dictionary and was going to post, but thought I'd search first. (link on the first page)

There's only one name I use for other people as I'm commuting, but as this is a family forum I won't add it.

Mate and I have the following one which we love to use.

The Tyre Inspector: A position taken by a rider in order to move their weight as far forward as possible while obtaining an aero position. This position results in the rider with his head so far over the bars and so low that it appears as if they're inspecting their front tyre.

My mates and I have the "BNA RETRO" call for the strange weird cyclist, that for some reason has indicated by his non verbal passive aggression. We have violated some, 'known unto them' cycling etiquette. He usually has every safety device known to mankind and rides a "Steel" bike (cause they are real)". Other identifying features include: Muppet arms and superior computer skills. Inventor of Zip tie to helmet craze. WARNING! not good at taking criticism but always ready to type a witty retort.
