Can't ride rant
Postby lunar_c » Sun May 01, 2011 1:24 pm
Broke my toe on Friday night. Can walk but not comfortably, so no cycling for now. I've had a look gingerly and I think it's a midshaft fracture of my proximal phalanges of my 5th toe. Ironically I'm working on an orthopaedics ward at the moment. Damnit!

Put bike on trainer, you can use the other foot to spin. Else, a tequila bottle works well.

Can’t ride with a broken toe?
Meh........... just cut the front out of an old cycling shoe, or get them to mould the sole of the shoe in with the plaster.

There's a cyclist regularly riding around cooks river who has a lame right leg. Gets along on a mtb with freewheel, right pedal bashing his ortho boot ; gets off and hobbles up hills. A broken toe don't rate, so princess must harden upelStado wrote: Ride a fixed gear.. you can ride with one leg.

Once the swelling went down enough to get into my shimano's I did a 20km ride and found it more comfortable to ride on than walk on.

Can't ride rant
Postby Comedian » Wed May 04, 2011 5:38 am
Gawd damn. With a bottle it tequila in me I reckon I wouldn't be worried about my toe - but I'm not sure I could stay on a bike either. Even on a wind trainer. In fact I reckon a bike of any description would be pretty much insurmountable. I'll admit it could be fun to watch thoughCommuRider wrote:Put bike on trainer, you can use the other foot to spin. So in laymans' nomenclature please, Ben... the fifth toe...
Is that the big one or the little piggy one that went WEEE-WEe-weee..... all the way home?

I've done about 100-150 kays with a broken toe in the mean time though.
PS : Kym, it's the one that went weeeeeeee
