Ideal Lightweight Frame for Fixed?

What is an ideal lightweight frame I can use to start building a fixed speed bike?

I am after something with the bottom bracket not being too low (causing constant pedal clip), and with drilling for brakes.

I weigh 90kg and 6'2" tall.

All depends on if you want tight track frame geometry or more relaxed geo. And then it comes down to how much you want to spend. There's plenty of builds highlighted here on what steel and aluminium frames can offer, can't recall any carbon builds but would be nice to see one

Depends on your budget. I converted an old early 90s 10 speed road bike I got for free into a fixie. Nice steel frame, racy geometry, front and rear brakes included.. perfect first fixed gear bike!

You can consider getting an old frame and converting it, but it depends on what you're wanting to use it for. Urban/street use.. go for steel/cro-mo.. track use, go for light weight such as carbon fibre/Ti etc. It's gonna cost you a bundle though.

The via COndotti is steel frame with 1 brake, while the Dalimine is alloy and 2 brakes.

Your thoughts (and preference) on both of these bikes?

My use will only be for street and dedicated bike track (but not velodome stuff)

what is the KHS FLite 100 (520 double butted CrMo Steel Frame) like as a fixed geared bike?

They are bulk-produced aluminium frames, chances are from the same factory. Dont get caught up by a sticker.

Buy it, build it, ride it. If you hate it, move on to something better.

Exactly. There's always going to be some try hard hipster schmuck who will pay you good $ for it once it is built, so chances are you won't lose out too much even if you did sell it on.

Just ordered one of those VISP frames (+ chain & seat) should get here on Monday. I figure at $120 for frame + forks+ seatpost, if anything does go wrong/suck then its not like you've wasted that much cash.

Hopefully I'll get under 9kgs once I've put it together.
