Sorry I didn't make it. Some serious pain on some very rough roads with nasty head / cross head winds yesterday... oh and 270 something kms at about 27 moving avg. put paid to anything but a nice sleep in this morning. Having said all that, much of the 110 km trip home from Toodyay had a pretty nice tail wind.

Four of us took of this morning (casual_cyclist, baalzamon, kalgrm and myself). Ended up being just over 40km though we cut short the bit down to the Weir and had coffee instead in Mundaring. Great weather, good company and fun riding. Yes we went through the tunnel, but remind me next time to swap from sun glasses to normal glasses before entering.

Yeah, great ride guys. I'm not used to riding on such an unstable surface and a couple of times had to stop my bike from toppling over with the front end all over the place. It was fun though!

This was the route we did. I pick up puncture as well Almost clip stack on one spot and roland almost laugh until I caught it

Baalzomon's front light also came loose in the middle of the tunnel. The rest of us didn't have any lights so we couldn't go back and help him out.

Next time I've got to follow kalgrm, as he knew some interesting variations to the route.

Wanting to introduce my mate to mutli-day offroad touring we rode last weekend from Midland to Chidlow via rail reserve (south) and kep track, camping the night at Lake Leschenaultia before coming home next day kep and railreserve north.
A great easy/moderate ride with plenty of places to refuel. About 45km on way there, 37 back. A good test of gear, skills, and motivation for another trek, This has sure spiked his interest.

Was pleased to find that the sections through the JFNP that previously had that extra chunky granite blue metal have been graded over with finer stuff since last year. ....
...re Tunnel... midway disorientation. .... Mind you, Halloween would be a good time as any to hide a plastic skeleton in one of the little hideaways like I've always wanted to.

Happy Humber is spot on about the grading of the chunky granite which caused me some vertically challenging moments years ago, and I was mindful of this being loaded with camping gear, but it never eventuated. I also remember big rocks in the tunnel, no longer there. All this is cleared out, still the midway disorientation (without lights) makes for a surreal experience. I like the idea of a few halloween items planted in the tunnel to highten the experience. I will need to do this before I eventually take my son out there.

All up a great offroad overnight trek that I highly recommend to others. And Chidlow Inn provided a few ales and plenty of entertainment.

+1 for doing the JFNP and Chidlow - Mundaring routes.
Did quite a lot of this before getting a roadie

Was in Denmark today and rode the railtrails each side out to the hwy - Had a beautiful morning 13degrees at start and slightly overcast day gettin up to about 19c so weather was great for riding. the trail is mostly good with some narrow overgrown sections.
All up did about 50km - 11km to the East towards Albany and return then 14km to Mcleod road west of Denmark then return.



Pretty much out in the bush so devoid of any shops or services so u need to take all repair stuff with you. Fortunately my average Repco MTB handled it well with no punctures or failures, tho my road riding backside isnt so used to the rough trails - even so had a great ride!

I just did it last Saturday and Sunday as a 2 day bike hike with the Freo Sea Scouts. The track was in perfect condition after the rain on Friday.

I'll do it again if it's decided to go in June some time.

I would prefer Saturday's but could do Sunday depending on the weekend (the ones that work for me are the 5th and the 19th). My vote is for as early as possible ... 7:00 AM preferred but could live with 8:00 AM

I can't make it May 28. I could be OK for June 5. I have a tentative plan to ride the Kep on the 4th with a friend, will check out how firm that arrangement is before I commit
