Who here is in the dome bunch that rides on saturdays, I saw the bunch just coming up near Granton onto the hwy last sat 21 May, it was bloody huge. That is a massive bunch. Do you guys get much grief from smoke-boxes with such a large bunch on the roads? Anyway what distance do you guys ride, I may start riding with you fellas once x-country finished in Oct. But I will have to draw the line on saying the club house has the best coffee, I will say the second best maybe...

Your taste buds are malfunctioning skull. Gargle with soap and water for 30 seconds

skull, now that you have your coffee tastes restored , your questions:- Bunch size is fairly modest; about 20 No problems, as team captain requires riders to obey road rules, Course varies each week, and distance would usually be in the range of 60 to 80 km. There is a range of abilities, with an emphasis on everybody having an enjoyable and safe ride. Nobody gets left behind; restaging points and head counts ensure everybody comes home happy and with company. A good ride, with good company. And very good coffee according to my taste.

It's a good bunch. Scope for hard work on the hills if that's your thing, but as master6 says, no one left behind. I had to leave early yesterday to make a 10:30 appointment in Hobart, just made it! Master6, nice to finally put a handle to a tea cosy!
Still young enough to win the Tour de France

What time do you start?
Also is the hard men weather riding or sunny days only?
And I will say they have the best coffees on sat/sun as my regular shop is only open business days. That is as close as I can get - personal conflict otherwise.
Do many from the Dome squad race with the vets?

cheers Barrytas Awesome, I will most definitely be coming along once the xcountry season is over, my wife got me onto it last year and I found the running worked wonders for my base fitness. I usually run the xcountry race and then we jump on the mountaion bikes for 3-4 hrs straight after it. and no not omphh, red bean then villinos, doesn't omphh supply Dome anyway?

That's a very civilised time to ride I must say. Rides in Brisbane start at 5:30-6:00 am, summer and winter. So the starting point is Dome where? Sandy Bay? And what other group rides are there - I have heard about a Ken Self shop ride. Just gathering info to encourage my wife to make the sea change.

hmmm, 0530 Hobart winter usually about -5 degrees and at a minimum a layer of frost and in some ares thick ice. At 0600 when I tend to roll out it has warmed up to a barmy -3.

ROTFL, not in Hobart... Ferntree or Mt Nelson maybe. In Hobart the air temperature rarely drops below zero.

I am out there at those times. Usually -3 rolling out of home @0600hrs. The Mocury gauge in town on many mornings is at 0 or less up until around 0800hrs during winter.

Since the xcountry season is over I will be joining the Dome ride.
So I take it be at the Dome cafe by 0715 sat morning to join the pre-Dome ride up the bonnet, then we get back and continue on the 0800 ride?
I will be the guy on the cannondale supersix.
